This has been haunting me for a hot minute now and I've decided to spew it out into the world so you all can suffer with me. So you know pearlcatcher babies right? Pretty cute, they've got those big eyes and giant pearl. [img]https://i.ibb.co/Zzty52r/dragon.png[/img] So here's the thing. THat's gotta be twice its body weight at least, if pearls on earth are anything to go by. Not to mention the size- dragon to pearl ratio, it's probably something like one third. And a few hours after they hatch??? There's no way it could have consumed, partially digested, and coughed up that much mass within just a few hours. And how did get it out of its throat? Do you mean to tell me that pearlcatchers are on some sort of cobra thing that we never heard about and they can stretch their jaw to ungodly levels? Because if that's the vibe we're going with, why have we never heard of it before???

i would say yeah its probably some cobra/jaw unhinging thing but. the pearl looks roughly around the size of the baby's torso so i don't think just getting it out of the throat is the problem

edit;; after eating the eggshell is there a period of time where the baby is just round?? because of the pearl in their stomach??

I mean snakes can eat anything slightly larger than the widest part of their body... I'm amazed at the size of some of my snakes' meals lol.

[/quote] Dragons aren't snakes though They don't glide around on their bellies they walk on four or fewer legs So like Is it just sort of in kind of a stasis while it digests its egg

Well it could have started off smaller, but then it just continuously barfed black stuff on it as babies are learning all the time. Fast pearl building.

Fast pearl building. [/quote] Yeah, I've always just figured the hatchling art is anywhere from a few days to a few weeks after the actual hatching. It's not a newborn, just general baby, and that pearl has been around for more than a few hours.There's been plenty of time for the baby to build it up

Just imagine how round and cute they are with the pearl in their bellies though.
