TOPIC | Buying on Marketplace to sell on AH
1 2 3 4 5 6
Have you ever withessed it?
People buying things on the Treasure Marketplace to sell them for more on the AH. And no, I'm not talking about 'I'll buy a few only', but people who buy THE WHOLE STOCK. I mean- that's a good way to earn money, but people who are running low on money/are saving up will probably find it annoying.
I wanted to buy a rename scroll + remove tertiary of one of my dragons today, but those things were totally out of stock. So I checked the AH. And what? Tons of both scrolls, sold by TWO PEOPLE (one person per type), 1-4kt more expensive than normally (for beginning players such difference is VERY noticeable, actually).

I am not trying to offend anyone. People who buy things cheaper and sell them expensively are actually smart, but I'm not buying overpriced things anymore, lol. I need to save up for lair expansion and a breed change scroll, which is taking forever.
From today, I'll buy some rename scrolls and remove terts in advance.
Do you mind such things? Did you ever bother checking that? Did this happen to you? Feel free to share AH/Marketplace struggles here!

I've done it before during item releases. Made a lot of treasure doing so.
It's all about supply and demand. If the demand is high, and the MP is supplying low, people will pay a lot of money.
It's also not against the rules, so no reason to NOT make fast, easy money at that point.
For those that aren't fast at clicking/slow internet, there are always dom shops that snipe MP items for you, usually at a small fee or sometimes free. Take advantage of those to get the items you want if you can't do it yourself and you just REALLY want that item.

We don't have a problem with it, it's a great way to make money. It's not like you're forced to buy from the AH. You have a choice of spending a small amount extra to get the thing immediately or using your time to wait for it to come back in stock in the MP.
We tend to avoid buying from them though just because we're normally patient enough to wait for it to restock. And we're cheap :D

It happens every time a new treasure item is released. It's an absolute pain dealing with snipers when you're trying to snag a couple of things for yourself.

I admit I recently bought a couple of veilspun genes in treasure and resold them for gems to fund buying veilspun breed changes for my own dragons, but the gem price they sold at was lower than their treasure worth.

I don't have a problem with it at all. Some smart folks found a way to make cash, so good for them. I love how much the economy is controlled by players, and I applaud those who are good at making that sweet, sweet cash.

I don't mind. It is not a problem.

I find it annoying. I respect their right to do so, but I personally think it's a [word I can't say on FR] move.

Scrolls of renaming? It's quite possible they didn't buy out all the stock. The treasure specialty section has been getting bloated, and they don't get stocked like they used to. Same for the remove gene scrolls. They're probably all good candidates for permanent stocking whenever the Marketplace is reworked.
Also, Marketplace to Auction House restocking isn't just about marking it up for a profit. There is the convenience that conceivable the Auction House will always have stock, while the marketplace is routinely cleared out as a game mechanic. Time or money, going to cost one way or another.

Plus, people restocking have to tie up their currency in items. Sometimes they'll take a loss if an item drops in value, more true for newer items. Then there is the labor involved.

I think it's fine, personally. Plus, with older items, the AH markups are usually so small that it must take a lot of effort to list enough items to actually make any money.
