honestly i’m getting a bit tired of the focus on them too, i don’t like them that much and it’s a little overwhelming

Not really. This is actually pretty tame compared to the Banescale hype. That straight-up crashed the website and continued on through NotN. The gem breed nature and the fact that they're still rare certainly doesn't hurt; everyone got Banes and Gaolers initially, while a lot of people still want veils. It'll die down when NotN stuff comes out, then we'll have nocturnes for days.

Also, this is the time of year when a lot of people start hopping back onto the site; NotN is a pretty big draw and people are prepping. So a lot of players are just now hopping on and ogling the pretties.

I think I remember the same thing happening with coatls. they were everywhere, including in my own lair. my personal bias still kind of shows in my coatl oldies. :p it'll take a minute to die down, I think. gem breeds in general will always have a huge push at the beginning to get them out into the gene pool. consider that people are still saving to fully gene their pairs, and most that are gened will have yielded one nest, maybe two. it's extremely profitable to jump on this train now as a breeder, and we'll all benefit eventually, once fodder-level dragons and cheap pretties are commonly on the market.

as for g1 scries, that's definitely at least 25% hype. and the more hype there is the more it'll keep rolling. consider that a pretty scry can make all the difference in a dragon sale, and if the breed is popular, there you go - wide appeal. they're so well-liked that it'll stick around to a degree, at least until they're common.

They're new, so I feel that's generally why. I really enjoy my Veilspun & am proud of what I've done with them, so I like to show them off but also just like the general colors I have on them.

This kinda happened with Gaolers and Banescale too so it's not too far beyond the idea of people are still excited & like the new thing & want to use their dragons as their images, sigs, aesthetic, etc.

I mean, people should be allowed to celebrate new things (and since it's new breed, it will take way longer to die down than your average apparel and familiar update), so I don't really see the problem. Everyone's different, too, so not everyone will silmulatenlously stop gushing over vielspuns all at once, so the threads you're seeing might be from people who just recently found out about the update for example. I do get the veilspun jealousy though, since it will do a significant damage to my bank if I were to buy the one I liked at the moment.

What you’re seeing is on par I feel. When gaos released it was gao mania for a few months after. Similar happened with banes. It’s only natural that we’re seeing a lot of veils at the moment.

I suspect there’s a bit of salt with regards to them being a gem breed. That it might feel like folks are flaunting. And why shouldn’t they? They’re proud of their accomplishment. I can see where someone who wants one but doesn’t have one yet might feel left out. But that’s just speculation.

It's not just that they're new it's also that a LOT of people love the design of them. It's like skydancers and imps prior to the new breeds. People are just nuts about 'em.

Many people are still trying to get their hands on the perfect one as well which leads to the popularity of hatcheries that breed Veils, LF threads, Auctions, G1 breed changing, skin making, and more

They might stay at the top for awhile like how imps and SDs were, or maybe it'll die down.
There's no telling at this exact moment really

I've begun ignoring pings for g1 sales if I see every scry is a veil. A quick back-page and delete notif. But I do the same thing when sales threads have no scries, so I'm just a grumpy customer.

@Rowdy

I've found that G1s sell better if you can show scries, and even better, if your scries look good without needing gem genes. If Opal is the only thing that will rescue a tert, then I won't try to sell for more than 15kt.
