Flight Rising Discussion

So I was playing Wizard 101 earlier, and I had a realization:

Arcane Magic is rather similar to Balance Magic.

Some parallels I've drawn:

-Both don't have a set opposite: Balance Magic sits squarely in the middle as its name implies and Arcane doesn't have an opposing element like the other Flights do.

-Both are supposed to be "pure" magics: Balance Magic came to be when there was unity discovered between the elemental magics and spiritual magics and Arcane is described as "pure magic".

This makes me wonder if there's a correlation between wizard school and flight for people who play both.

I'm arcane, and I was in the myth school when I used to play W101. The sort of kitchen-sink approach of the myth school spells does fit my FR lore, but I really just chose myth because I really liked summoning allies.

There probably isn't. I made this just because I notice little things like this in the games I play due to how big of a nerd I am.

When you put it like that it does make quite a bit of sense.

Also the Arcanist was born in a nuclear reactor accident, and the nuclear reactor was made by the people of the Second Age, who channeled all of the known elemental magics into a single gigantic machine...so it could make sense that the Arcanist, being born from this explosion, exists as a kind of balance/fusion of all the previous magics.

From the World Map:
"They prefer the allure of the unknown and mysterious nature of the magical energies that bind the universe together."

Arcane's thing is space, but also straight magic. Some headcanon the Shade (which sought to consume magic) as Arcane's opposite, but yeah! They don't have an opposing elemental flight.
