Making a reply and realized- "Y'know, the pretty droogons that become fodder and help with domicance- Maybe it's just a big fashion show?"

I mean, it makes sense with the weekly dragon share thingy. Showing off pretty babs with the theme- It sounds like a big fashion show!

Maybe that's what the dominance really is, a fashion show, and the stories were just written down wrong!

[/quote] Not all fodder is 'ugly', heck, sometimes I come across really pretty fodder that I have to force myself not to get attached too before I have 100 new permas lmao, sometimes in those cases I'll try and rehome em But I love the idea of Dominance being a fashion show, there are so many wild dragons that get exalted and so many are so pretty, wonder if any of my children have won a fashion show

Not all fodder is 'ugly', heck, sometimes I come across really pretty fodder that I have to force myself not to get attached too before I have 100 new permas lmao, sometimes in those cases I'll try and rehome em

But I love the idea of Dominance being a fashion show, there are so many wild dragons that get exalted and so many are so pretty, wonder if any of my children have won a fashion show

Not a fashion show, necessarily, but it might help to know that even in strict site lore, it's not as simple as "exalted dragons go off to war"! The devs have spoken on this several times, but while exalted dragons can choose more soldiery professions, they are also responsible for the upkeep of the realm in plenty of noncombatant ways. This is especially notable as the site lore has turned away from the initial "flights are fighting all-out wars 24/7" and putting the "flights are fighting all-out wars 24/7" into the Ancient lore instead. Wind and Water have canonical shared territory (Bamboo Falls), Nature and Plague (the most notably strained relationship) were negotiating a peace treaty before and during the Bounty of Elements lore… overall the recent lore has been very peaceful between the flights. The shift, lore-wise, has been towards threats outside inter-dragon politics and even the conflict with the Beastclans (which was the first movement away from flights fighting 24/7, but we're now getting ambassadors and tons of beastclan friends with lore that indicates they've never had bad relations with dragons), such as the Emperor loose in Light territory, Tidelord's silence, etc.

The confusion, I think, comes in that a lot of information about "what is canon for Dom" is simplified and comes from the initial onsite explanations before the devs really started fleshing out the world. But it's not war or fighting unless someone wants it to be.

The Canon Lore Compendium has a collection of professions with the sources linked:
