i like them a lot! i wasn't here for when they released and only came back last year and i don't really understand why everyone dislikes them. it's a fun lottery thing everyone can have access to, and i love all the primal eye types.

Nah, you're not the only one. I enjoy the randomness of natural eyes, & I wish more eyes would be added cause I'm getting a little bored with the few options we do have.

I will say I just overall disagree with how Scattersight was retired but beyond that, I'd happily enjoy more eye types on the site.

I like it! I really like the RNG elements of dragons in general, and I think some special eyes would lose alot of their appeal to me if I could just freely apply them, even if it was super expensive or something. Eye types like Primal and Multigaze are meant to be special, they wouldn't be different from Common if they could just... be anywhere. And I don't think it'd be fair to the G1 market or hatchery market if naturally-hatched special eyes weren't special anymore.

I'm not opposed to Scattersights though, I think that's the best way to approach applying different natural eye types (if they brought them back, that is- it's not a great solution if they stay retired forever). Just because I also think it's unfair that some older dragons would be barred from the feature just on account of being hatched early on.

Check out my adopts at
Infernal Beasts,
my lore-based
Scatterquest,
or my skin shop,
Dracopunk!
I love the randomness of eyes, it brings the mutation element of real-life breeding. Also it's super cool for lore dragons, gives so much inspo about them being born special.

There’s plenty of reasons I dislike it. For the most part my play style is to pick up fodder dragons and completely change everything about them. The eyes changed that and I feel like my play style was invalidated. Other reasons being all my dragons eyes changed without warning in a single day and I cannot fix them, I joined FR because everything was predictable and a controlled environment, not all primals were made equal, people cannot opt out of the feature, lots of play styles were invalidated with the eye system change, and I never enjoyed breeding projects instead I prefer customization projects which are no longer a valid play style. That’s just a few reasons but if you want to read into other peoples issues with the eyes to better understand why some players dislike it you can look at some of the eye posts in the suggestions forum. There’s no need to comment on any of the threads but they can be very informative if you want to better understand why some people do not like the feature. I don’t mind other people enjoying it but personally I loathe it. Allow me to further explain:
I love the new eye types that were introduced but the problem was I wanted them on my older dragons or dragons that didn’t even exist yet. On the day of the eye update I was so happy and excited and I was in the coliseum having fun that morning and with each vial I got I applied it to a random dragon in my lair for the fun of it. But then I read the eye update post and realized I wasted a limited resource on mostly fodder dragons that I had no plans to keep. I read the update and was horrified by what I was reading. My play style at the time was changing from breeding only to customizing only. I went from loving breeding dragons to no longer wanting to breed for myself instead I loved being able to change anything I wanted about a dragon except gender and flight. And I often wouldn’t buy a dragon unless the eyes matched and with the eye update it added lots of new beautiful possibilities but I couldn’t interact with it after 3 days. Instead of staff supporting all play styles they seemed to have put breeding new dragons and project breeding above people who liked to customize their dragons or collect dragons and change them as time went on. So I went back to the coliseum those 3 days and got all of 10 more scattersights before the time was up. And I was deeply upset that I couldn’t interact with these eye types at all. I did not and still do not like keeping anything I hatch, I would much rather buy a random dragon to customize but now I cannot customize as I see fit. I also enjoyed planning ahead to hatch dragons for clones of my dragons so other people could be free to enjoy them as well but the eye update ruined that as well because I can no longer plan ahead and know what I’ll be getting. I loved the predictable way genes and breeds worked and I joined FR for that and the customization but the eye update ruined both of those things for me. I want to enjoy these eye types but as it stands now I cannot and with each nest I hatch with anything but common the more I’ve come to hate the eye system in general. I do not want to hatch dragons with random eyes or eyes I did not explicitly ask for. I want to have these eye types on my 3+ year old dragons, I want to take some fodder dragon off the ah and scry of into a completely new looking dragon and change it to look like that but the eyes limit me. Again I feel like my play style of customization over breeding was invalidated for breeding only and I feel like staff basically said “Anyone who likes customization over breeding is playing FR wrong.”
I love it and i would totally like to see more random natural eyes added to the pool, they make the dragons more unique.
