Doing G1 projects very, [i]very [/i]rarely. I could afford to impulsively splurge on 4 Gem genes for two Banescales because I'd never done so before [emoji=wildclaw winking size=1]
Sell a lot of things, buy cheaper genes, not much in ways of saving but at least the dragons are nice to look at. 8)

I AH random apparel and familiars for 2-3g, sell art, and fodder. I know food can sell for a good amount too. For treasure I either convert g to t or hoardsell junk.
I don't typically buy expensive g1s either, I like the ones that don't match at all until you really finagle 'em.

I sell all the gilded chests I get from familiar bonding, I also have an art shop I can open if I need the gems. I think I still have a few eggs in my vault from NotN too that I'm planning on selling eventually.
