The 8th (eighth!!! Wow!!!!) anniversary is fast approaching, so! What sort of feature do you think we're going to get? What are you hoping for? And what's your totally unrealistic wish that you'd LOVE to see?

I took a look back at my speculation post last year, and a lot of the things we were hoping for got added, notably a pose change scroll, the world map update, the hoard update (with SEARCH!)-- and a lot of us called a backdrop update, too! I had a hard time thinking of things that could be added between all of these, but I still managed to compile some tidbits of speculation from suggestions and hints.

Here's a few things that we could possibly suspect:

• Gotta mention a new modern breed, right? We have no clue where it is in development, though (the last update was in January 2020), so this is a pretty shaky possibility-- especially considering how the apparel & gene backlog has been continually increasing.
• A festival revamp would be intriguing, and it'd be best to get it over with at the beginning of a festival cycle. More ways to get festival currency? More forms of festival currency-- or would that be overcomplicating things?
• Some sort of Tidelord-centered lore update, though this'd probably go best alongside something else.
• Speaking of things that go best alongside other things, we'll inevitably get some sort of familiar or apparel set alongside whatever the Big Thing is!
• A new ancient is a perfectly plausible possibility! Possible flights include: Earth, Nature, Arcane, Plague, Water, or Lightning.
• Achievements update/revamp!
• A major site artwork update! To clarify, this'd be for things like the flight banners, and also the world map background sidebars. In the wake of the world map update, they very clearly need an update, but I don't know if they might be tangled in any other site code.
• Eliminate... 2! /j

There's a number of things that are all but deconfirmed and/or seem to be Way too early in development:

• Adventure mode, which (according to the last Ask The Team segment) is very, Very early in development. It hasn't been scrapped, though!
• Large UI updates that affect the whole site (e.g. dark mode or other "themes"). A previous post by Xhaztol mentions that the site rebuild would essentially have to be completed before such a thing could happen.
• There's absolutely no hint that permababy skins could be a thing, but... why not!

I can’t imagine why they [i]wouldn’t[/i] draw the apparel for the new breed along with new apparel as it’s being made; since the base is obviously there already, considering in the last update they’re mostly done with genes.

Nesting grounds revamp?

Please. It’s one of the things I’m most excited for but I wouldn’t mind a festival revamp because that would be a great time for it considering it’s between festivals seasons.

I'm hoping the new modern, but won't get my hopes to high for it. I also Would love to see some new lore, especially something at least mentioning Tidelord.

I imagine they'll give us another update on the new modern, but it's so hard to say where it is in terms of readiness.

Since they've been adding more features throughout the year recently, it's hard to guess on what they have in mind for the anniversary. Having the dom revamp ready in time for a new round of festivals would be nice. Or maybe they're ready to show off Coli PVP now.

I really hope that it's the new modern breed, and if not, then a new ancient breed. If not, permababy skins/accents would be nice.

I also really want adventure mode for the coliseum, but last I heard it's still in early development, so that's not too promising.

I do think it's important to remember that the anniversary update doesn't have to be a huge one; after all, Year 3 was relatively minor with the introduction of Vistas.
