Yes my account is pretty old but one thing I never really understood is why everyone collects 1st gen dragons?

@CannedWater dunno? For me it's because they're e x p e n s i v e after you gene them and I like expensive stuff

I think a lot of people like the challenge of finding the right gene combo for a wacky set of colors and typically it’s 1) harder to find weird color combos for G2+ dragons and 2) some people don’t think it’s worth it to gene G2+ dragons.

challenge + prestige + clean lineage box + the satisfaction of making something "yours."

plus added lore options for folks that do that.

It's a status thing, like buying a plain white t-shirt for 500$ or playing golf. If you can afford a G1 with good colours, it means you're "winning". Also some people really hate their dragons having parents for some reason?

Ahhhh that does make sense, I haven't really had the chance to buy genes for any of my dragons really

I've had tons of weird color combos from the offspring of my two progens yike, but they're all either serving some deity or dead by now.

Being hated for having parents is the weirdest thing I can't

I like having projects to keep me busy and invested, and find it fun to give a makeover to a completely blank slate like a gen1 dragon! Kinda like how an artist can turn a blank page into a work of art, y'know?

I like the way the lineage box looks on G1s, nice and clean. And it also shows that care went into picking their genes or earning enough currency for them, which isn't as obvious on some of my dragons I've regened that aren't G1s. It's really fun to have a project and put together an amazing looking dragon, so it's kind of nice for the dragon to essentially have a little sticker that says "Hey i wasn't hatched this way! Somebody decided to give me these genes!" without somebody needing to click on the parents to see that the parents look different.

Still, some of my fave dragons are finished gene projects that aren't G1 and I'm perfectly happy with them too.
