TOPIC | Eye Update is RAD AS HECK

Ok. Ok. Listen. I am a person who has spent several thousand gems on a primal I wanted. I am a person who has hatched a G1 primal and been stoked about it. I am a person who spent over 6 months (6! months!) renting nests to get a multi-gaze dragon I wanted, and by RNG standards that was actually quite lucky because I expected to be renting for over a year to get him.

And this update is, in my opinion, absolutely WONDERFUL.

If there's a project that I want with a rarer eye type, no longer will I have to count on spending weeks or months breeding for those eyes. That isn't fun for me, but I did it anyways because there was no other choice - and now I have a choice! Now I can just buy an eye vial if my nests don't give me the eye I want on the first couple tries! Projects that could take ages that I wouldn't have bothered pursuing otherwise? I can do that now without dreading the long wait and nest rental hassle!

And at least to me, none of this makes my hard work for my special eyed dragons any less worth it. I will still always be happy that I saved up all that money for my shadow primal, because I love her so. I will still always feel SUPER lucky to have hatched that G1 primal. I will still always feel satisfied looking at my multi-gaze and knowing that the months of work I spent on him were worth it.

I just. A mechanic I found limiting and kind of boring, except in rare cases of lucky hatches, has been, imo, exponentially improved. I've already tossed vials at two dragons who I wanted different eyes for. I could ramble all day about this. I'm just so dang delighted. Thank you staff for my life

Edit: I also just realised that this update is excellent for personal lore purposes as well! Once I get around to actually writing out stories for my lore, if my dragons ever have an experience that SHOULD change their eyes, I can now buy a vial and actually change their eyes, no matter what new eyes they should theoretically have. That right there is possible now! aaaaaaa--

yes yes YES hard agree. there's some "wasted" value in my lair, got a couple Primals i shelled out extra for and burned several Scattersights over the years, and now i NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT DOING THAT AGAIN [emoji=guardian star size=1] my current hoard of Scattersights is worth a fraction of what it was and i am delighted. i literally cannot be mad about this update in the SLIGHTEST I AM SO PUMPED i've always haaaaaaated breeding, takes too long and RNG is often unkind, so i was not looking forward to starting a Primal breeding project in the near future (because what choice did i have), and... now i don't have to. i can spend a fraction of that time to just breed the color combo, drop 500kT, and be done. it's hecking blissful. still love my special-eyed dergs as much as i did before the update - you can pry Nelkir from my cold dead hands - but i am so so SO relieved that the eye system is now available to everyone who wants to use it. particularly for the oldie and special ID collectors!!! I HAVE SO MANY OLDIES AND THEY GET TO BE EXTRA COOL WITHOUT ME SELLING MY LIVER AAAAA

Strong agree, OP! I am so excited to play around with different eye types in my lair, and I still absolutely love my current, natural Primals and Multi-gazes.

!! signature under construction !!
I strongly agree! I can now settle for the right colours instead of slaving away my time towards a single project just for certain eyes.

It’s fine. I don’t like how all “natural eyes” aren’t natural cause now the eyes have lost their glam. Like now glowing/innocent eyes have more value than primal as primal is being sold for treasure which doesn’t sit right.
This feature just changes this game from a breeding game to a design an avatar game which makes me sad as I loved the forced need for breeding dragons.

I didn't even consider oldies and special ID dragons having eye options now, holy heck. And special date dragons too! Those special dragons have more options! They can become even more special!! WOOHOO
It’s fine. I don’t like how all “natural eyes” aren’t natural cause now the eyes have lost their glam.
I'd like to offer you a different perspective on these concerns... Many people enjoy the process of breeding for specific natural eyes. Many others don't - I fall in this camp. With this update, players who like to breed for eyes can still do that. And in addition, the players who found that boring can still get the customization without spending all that time on something that isn't fun for them. This update allows for a wider range of playstyles and imo that's never a bad thing. And as for the economy - I'll admit that I think it's a bit weird for primal eyes to be in the treasure mp. But since primal eyes are the most noticeably different natural eyes, they're probably going to act as a pretty effective treasure sink; so while the raw value of a primal dragon on the AH may go down, the gem:treasure ratio will probably lower a bit, so the economic effects aren't all bad.

In addition to everything that's already been stated, I also have a small theory that the inherent value of XXY/XYX/XYY G1s might go up to compensate, since primal vials and special-patterned G1s are, economically speaking, complimentary goods... even though it doesn't fit the bill perfectly (vials coming into existence rather than the price of an existing vial rising), I still believe it may increase prices of nicely-colored/patterend G1s since any eyes you like are now a guarantee, provided you have the money.
I was actually thinking the same thing. Just speaking for myself, I already bought a nice XYZ G1 today for 500g. I usually don't go out of my way to buy dragons from other people. It might make more people willing to buy dragons since they can scry them with any eye type now.
