Edit: please be civil in the thread, it's a place for discussion and tbh a venting place for people like me who aren't happy.
not here to really argue with anyone bc im tired
I do a lot of gen1 collecting, esp for rare/pricy dragons bc I like having bragging rights, and i feel, personally, that the new update has left me feelin like "okay....well what now". Don't get me wrong, I still love my dragons, but I have this creeping, numb feeling because it doesn't feel like there's much to strive for.
There's only the coliseum and the festivals for me now, otherwise i'm just kinda...here, which sucks!!! Because I used to be really invested in this game!!! I'm probably sounding really rambly at this point but the main point is that there isn't anything for me to look forward to anymore.

i checked in flight rising after a long hiatus and ngl might sound overdramatic but the eye update is the final nail in the coffin for me playing FR again
I was really into g1 and primal collecting and the feeling of hatching a g1 primal or a really matchy primal felt so great and special and now I feel like that feeling is lost lol idk i'm not mad or anything just kinda sad that one of the things that I have the most fond memories about in flight rising and what made some of my dragons special to me kinda just lost its value i guess lol

totally feel the same...its like " oh, you had such pretty eyes, how cool dragon!" to "so you do have eyes? so what?" as most ppl like to have a total control over matters, I like the randomness and surprise moment the most --THATs why I am still around here...not everything must be controlled and planned by players, does it? (well, only my honest opinion anyways)

I'm on the same page. It's really disheartening to see this update out of left field, especially after watching some really vicious bullying from people who have complained about the new eye system ever since it was originally revamped years ago. I'm not a G1 or primal collector, but even I saw several of my dragons massively devalued overnight, and not just monetarily. I feel really bad for G1 lairs, collectors, and rare dragon dealers.
What really gets to me is the fact that there is now a concrete price tag on various eye types. And it's a low one. The game now has an inherent price range for various eye types, which is, frankly, awful.
Personally, I don't know if I'll be buying any dragons whose eyes have been vial-changed in the future. It feels cheap.
Thanks for the space to rant and feel disappointed. All the "eyepocalypse is over!!1!! wheeee party!!1!" threads are really rubbing me the wrong way.

I...do think for primals, at least, it's not special enough for how epic the eye types can be. A game is defined by the playing, and while having the ability to get what you want from defined work instead of complete RNG is good, I think that, compared to the impact of the other eye types, Primal should have had an additional wall of some sort.
Just because on most dragons, the eye types aren't super visible/impactful because the eyes are so small - outside of the Primals, which are very distinct on all on breeds. I think if they had been cycling items, or gem items, or maybe in the festival store? Something to make them not -just- something you can grind for, but something a little more special.
Like just a bit ago, I got a really nice primal hatch and was excited, even though I was probably not going to keep him, because it was special and someone out there would probably love him and I could sell him for a real good price - now he's less special, because someone out there can have a primal for 500t whenever the shop stocks, and they can have it on whatever dragon they want.
And I get that market stocking and whatnot makes it not instantaneous, but...it's the same old grind that everything else operates on, when it was it's own, unique thing before.
