Hi everyone!
May I ask for a little help / advice from fellow Coli Familiar collectors? :)
I was wondering about how can you all keep your motivation when a familiar simply refuses to drop from the Venue after many-many days of grinding. Because there is always one.
I think I am a quite patient person in general but I still remember for that how frustrated I was when that annoying Toxic Igueel haven't dropped after a week of continuous grinding and after 4 boss and three eggs drops at the Redrock Cove! It was a big relief when I got it in the end. I will surely never forget about fam. -.-
If possible I would like to get all of the Coli fams without spending money on them but I admit sometimes it's hard to keep up the grinding when I don't see the result. And I know it will be even harder when I have to aim after the bosses.
So do you have any techniques for this thing? Like changing the Venue after (for example) 3 days of grinding or something? ^^

I don't have much of a solution. I just simply pop on music and just yeet everything with Escape until i get what i need. My last effort to get the familiar is auction house.
Sometimes coli is grateful on some days. The goal is to aim for those days, and those days only.

I switch it up a little. I switch venues if I get bored, and take frequent breaks.
It'll drop eventually.
If it's cheap enough, I'll buy it from AH but I usually get enough fams easily from grinding unless it's a boss fam. Those can take a while.
Don't continuously grind. It's not worth it.

watch a movie or tv show in one window and have coli zoomed out to 50% in the other one :P aside from the golem workshop, with keyboard controls grinding is pretty much muscle memory. with that setup, i can go for hours without even really realizing it, lol.
definitely understand the frustration aspect--it took me AGES to get a shattered serpent from the delta; i actually got all the new fams before i was able to net one, lmao. switching venues definitely helps, i constantly switch it up to keep myself engaged. also, selling full food stacks is stupid lucrative, as is selling stuff needed for the hibden/swipp/baldwin. thinking about how much money i'm gonna make from food drops diminishes the sting of a stubborn familiar, and makes every battle seem "worth it." it's a mental game, if i'm being totally honest!

Taking breaks to shake things up helps immensely !! If a particular venue is being stubborn and you're getting frustrated, switch to a different goal temporarily for a day or so. Or pause from coli grinding entirely to tackle another FR goal you're working on, like breeding projects or hunting for Swipp items. Or just do something you find more relaxing, like playing forum games, dressing dragons, etc.
Deciding when to take these break is up to you - I don't like going at the same venue for more than 2 or 3 days but you might have a higher tolerance, especially depending on how your mood is on any given day.
Taking regular physical breaks is something I highly recommend, too! Rest your eyes by looking away from the screen, do some simple stretches to avoid muscle strain, and check in on how you're feeling. Drink or eat if you need to and maybe consider doing a different activity for a bit as well (I like to play with my dog and listen to a podcast for my breaks). It's much easier to grind when your body is in good condition, after all.
To avoid getting too bored in the coli, I also like to have another tab open with a video on YouTube or have a podcast in the background. It feels less tedious that way and helps quite a bit when training exalt fodder.
Best of luck to you & wishing you lots of good coli fortune. [emoji=skydancer laughing size=1]

I never go seeking a particular fam - instead I just grind in different places and let the fams that will drop drop. I suppose when the number narrow down I'd start grinding for them, but always take breaks so you never get too frustrated.

Thank you all for the great advices! :D
I tend to become serious when I start to work on a new project (like making plans, lists and such), but I guess I should accept that the Coli and the rng gods won't always keep up with my plans...
So yeah... I will try to keep it easy. I will give 1-2 days for a Venue and if nothing happens or if I feel bored I will switch. I still have the chance to get the missing fams from chests or from the AH - if I ever get extra money next to my project savings. ^^
So sorry Scorched Forest, I know you are an easy Venue, but I will visit the Boreal Wood now.

When I’m grinding I basically always have Netflix in the background and I grind on my ipad because compared to my laptop I can get about twice as many battles done.
To motivate myself I often set small goals like getting 10 familiars, 5 apparel drops, a crate, etc. to keep me engaged. When I reach that goal I just pick a different one and keep going.
Honestly if I grind in a venue to the point where I only have 1 or 2 familiars missing I just use the profits from the extra familiars I sell to buy it.
I usually grind while doing other things. I made a tracker for my boss hunt that also helps keep me motivated because I can see all the other cool stuff I got even if I didn’t get what I wanted

This is what I do. D&D actual-play podcast/video series got me through my Golem Workshop boss hunt. They tend to be long-ish, so I don't run out in the middle of the hunt. This seems to be the only way I can listen to podcasts without getting distracted, so it also works in reverse when I don't need anything from coli but I do have something I want to listen to.
I've also increased my tolerance for long grinds through years of shiny hunting in Pokemon, but that's not really helpful advice for most people.
