I was just checking the latest ID numbers (Search: Dragons + Filter: ID highest first) and I realized that on my next Special Day I could set an alarm for the middle of the night and keep refreshing to locate the first hatchling born on that day and make an offer for it.

Then, of course, I thought about how it might *feel* to hatch out a nest and seconds later get a PM asking about the hatchlings...

What do you think?

(Or is this already a thing?)

Yeah I'd be surprised but not upset. Who knows, they might be breeding for fodder or sales to begin with. The worst they can do is say no.

be polite, and make a reasonable offer, yeah? I've had several people hunting rare IDs ask me for a hatchling I bought at fodder price, and most of them start off as "hey can I buy [name] for fodder price?" which is... fine, until I look at the ID, then go to the thread in Dragon Share for Rare ID Collectors Society or whatever, check the spreadsheet, and, um, no, fodder price is not fine for a perfect palindrome ID number that would normally fetch at least 20k.

I did get one person who sent me a message saying "hey, so [name] has a rare ID that I'm interested in collecting, they can sell for a lot of treasure on the AH, would you be willing to sell them to me and what would you like for them?" and I sold that one at fodder price. honestly I don't give a toss about the ID numbers, but I deeply dislike somebody trying to get something they know should be more expensive for cheap by relying on my ignorance, and I greatly approve of prospective buyers being completely up-front about it.

I think that would probably be fine, as long as they don't have anything in their bio asking people specifically not to ask about buying dragons that they haven't listed as for sale. If for some reason they really did find it annoying, they could just choose to ignore your message, or even block you outright. But I think that's very unlikely to happen, and even if it did, at least you gave it a shot right? Just be polite and make a reasonable offer, and I'm sure the person won't mind too much.

I tend to breed fodder, and I've often sent off dragons to people who basically pounced on them not very long after hatching. Personally I'm okay with it, but I know it's not the same for everyone.

Politeness and a decent trade offer is always good!

Not really. I breed fodder and sometimes get random asks to buy dragons, most of the time I assume it was a special date/id, or specific colours that were needed for a breeding project. Sometimes they come fast too, people looking for breeding project dergs might be checking dragon search with their parameters multiple times a day (I know I have!) As long as you're not rude about it, it should be fine!
