TOPIC | Should gathering be buffed?

im honestly just curious to hear others’ thoughts on this. when i gather, i choose to gather the food that has the lowest points in my lair. i tend to get around?? 550 points, maybe less if i dont get a lot and rarely higher if i get more items than usual.

however, in a single day, my dragons eat over 700+ food points... and it wouldnt be so bad if i could choose what they eat, right? but that means the other dragons who dont eat that specific type of food ive chosen, have to be compensated for and fed their type of food afterwards. but ultimately, unless i coli or buy food from the ah, gathering alone wont be enough to keep the food points up and my dragons fed. obv, its not like food will run out over night, and it certainly would take some time (i have about 3k points for each type), but it wouldnt last very long either considering how much my dragons eat. (i wouldnt factor the hibden into this since i like to keep my ‘main’ lair in my lair, whereas everyone else is thrown into the den for convenience/space—and i know there are some players who do the same!)

please dont interpret this as complaining, ive just noticed this as ive fed my dragons that gathering isnt enough. and it makes me wonder how it would impact players with huge lairs who can only gather, since they dont have extra time/funds to coli or buy from the ah. would it be a good bet to buff gathering, or just keep it where it’s at?

what do you think?

I think that if gathering provided food points for a full lair, food from the coliseum would be useless. You can't transmute as much food as you get in coli, one takes 30 minutes and you can get a food every less-than-a-minute battle

Though, I do notice that gathering for a certain thing can be very tiring and take even several months for the rarer things. Not really sure how to agree the two with each other

It needs a facelift and points boost, mainly because it's ridiculous for LV40 gathering to return 0 or 2 points. Any reasons beyond that just add onto my wish for it.

BTW, you can choose what to feed. It's in your lair settings.

Likely doesn't need a huge buff, but does need some sort of "Higher levels are more likely to bring back more food" sort of thing. Course I don't have any say in this because I solved my food issue by just not feeding my dragons. [emoji=spiral tongue size=2]

I think it needs to be updated and rebalanced in general, not just for food points, but I believe it was on the developers' list of projects in the pipeline so hopefully that will in fact happen.

YISS and since it's getting a revamp, it's most likely gonna see a rehaul of how it works internally. Even if we're level 40, we can still get one single blade of grass and that's bad.

If you use selective feeding options in your account settings its relatively easy to choose what food type to feed.

As for gathering, I am not sure. There needs to be some incentive to get food from other places also.

I will put something here eventually.
absolutely. other than what you can collect there's not really any difference in gathering at low levels vs high levels. Levelling Up gathering at all seems pretty punishing in general.

gathering at level 1: One item up to 4 different items.
Quantities at level 1: 1-5 for each item

gathering at level 40: one item, up to 4 different items super low/impossible chance at level 1 items
quantities at level 40: 1-5 for each item

Challenge: anyone with level 40 digging should go digging for a manticore familiar and tell how many days it takes.

Where does the expectation that Gathering should provide all the food for your lair come from?

I think of Gathering more like browsing a giveaway--it's free (no cost, very little time investment) but you might not always like what you find so you don't take anything home.

From a business standpoint hunger and not getting enough food from Gathering is a win--it encourages players to spend time on the site.

I want to live in Theory. Everything works there.

Have you checked the Gem MP for Gene and Breed scrolls before buying an AH listing from me ending in 5g?
