I know in my head that spirals are the wind breed, yet whenever I think about the lightning's breed I go 'ah, yes, it's spirals.' and for ridgebacks, I associate them with water (maybe because they eat seafood and look like goblin sharks?).
here's my list of the wrong dragon flights and my reasoning:
wildclaws - light [emoji=light rune size=1] (because all of the rich lairs have them... LOL)
guardians - earth [emoji=earth rune size=1] (they just look solid and ancient! like earth)
ridgebacks - water [emoji=water rune size=1] (explained above)
faes - nature [emoji=nature rune size=1] (they're very... fluttery? and butterfly-like)
coatls - wind [emoji=wind rune size=1] (it just makes sense to me that feathered dragons are wind)
skydancer - ice [emoji=ice rune size=1] (they remind me of seagulls)
mirrors - shadow [emoji=shadow rune size=1] (they look very spooky)
spirals - lightning [emoji=lightning rune size=1] (hyperenergetic, looks like they were made for the circuit gene)
does anyone else have their breeds mixed up?

I keep thinking of Skydancers as light because they've got the feathered wings and just look so much more Replacement-Imperial and lightly elegant than Pearls do.

i used to always associate fae with wind because i'm wind and my progens were both faes... and my brain keeps associating bogsneaks with shadow despite them being neutral - probably because their encyclopedia entry and names keep making me think "ah yes. shadow time"

Coatls are also wind for me, and water ridgies.

I used to think Ridgebacks were water element too, I legit used to think their long nose was used for spear fishing. lol

I genuinely forgot/didn't know (I had to have read this information somewhere but I can't remember for the life of me) that Skydancers were wind until, like, a week ago. I guess I always ended up associating them with Arcane? Spindly, graceful, bug-like antennae, (partially) webbed wings... When I think wind I think energetic, expressive noodle, so it did not track at all that SDs were from that flight.
I tend to forget that Wildclaws are Nature, pretty sure I thought they were from Fire for a while... Just because they look fierce? Nothing about them is particularly... Nature-y to me.
Guardians I definitely thought were an Earth breed at some point. They're stocky and strong and their fins look like hard protective ridges.
And I too tend to think of Ridges as a water breed because of their faces + their love of seafood.
So I guess my wrong flight breeds are
Skydancer [emoji=arcane rune size=1]
Wildclaw [emoji=fire rune size=1]
Guardian [emoji=earth rune size=1]
Ridgeback [emoji=water rune size=1]
As for the others, I don't really remember my first impressions, but I don't have a hard time recalling where they belong now.

Faes always make me think of water. All their frills give me lion fish vibes. Like I could totally see them tucking in their legs and using their wings to propel them through the water.
Ridgebacks give me earthy vibes as well, their long horns make me think they can drill through hard rock.

I always got Wind for skydancers just because of their name.
Wildclaw I keep trying to make plague in my head. I think that's my biggest one.

I thought that Coatl's were Wind, and Imperials Earth and Wildclaws Plague as a newbie.

I remember thinking Pearlcatchers were a water breed because of the pearls. Other than that, I didn't really get any of the breed elements mixed up, as far as I can remember!
