who's going to start an xxx oilslick subspecies to commemorate the event? i'm honestly surprised there isn't one yet!

turns out, velya isn't using the oil to light up the tunnels, she's using it to start the subspecies herself /j

I was actually working on an oil spill dragon before this, but now I am extra motivated! This made me wanna scry some stuff as a concept. not all are xxx but oilslick is a Necessary color

Oil [1] #1654472 Oilslick xxx

Oil [2] #1654474 Slate/oilslick xyy

Oil [3] #1654481 oilslick/oilslick/stone

Personal thoughts:

1. Oilslick is necessary and is best shown as Oil when depicted on liquid genes (slime, sludge, capsule) At least one of those genes in oilslick is needed to be Oil™

For other genes,

2. Stone/Rock concept is good. The following colors have names that Work with the dig site: stone, slate, dirt, and soil. clay, terracotta, and sand are also Alright, even if they arent first choice. Can theoretically be most genes, but girahex and gembond are good depictors of Earth.

3. Any shade of white/yellow/orange etc. that functions as a depiction of light/fire could also be good as a depiction of the lanterns themselves. Glowtail, runes, and firefly are good at showing Light. Wraith would also be pretty funky i think?

4. Capsule gene is just good in general?

5. eyes: earth/light/fire are the best imo, but any with the glowing eyetype would be acceptable

mostly just putting thoughts down rn. I think i do wanna actually put solid rules together for them sometime soon if thats okay when I have a free moment bc this is a great concept I think
