I've been working on a couple fandragon projects lately and figured I'd ask how y'all like to make your fandragons, because there are so many different options to go about it! You can grab a cheap dragon with a close enough palette of the AH for cheap, search for specific color ranges and try to find that perfect g1, breed for their colors, breed them yourselves so you can make a fandragon lineage of them, their parents, their grandparents... or maybe you want that very specific 3 colors in g1 that you have no choice but to pray gets hatched. Or perhaps you hatched a dragon yourself or came across one and went "huh, i could make a fandragon out of this..."

So far, I've got a couple g1 fandragons, and even decided to do a tiny lineage project - got my two g1 fandragons for the parents (hunted through dragon search for compatible color ranges) and just bred them and got very lucky to get the right colors, gender, and number of eggs for my nest. Sadly, though I've got 3 very cute g2s, now I need gene and breed change them all to suit their personalities... which is very $.

I want to do the same with other fandragons but it is very limiting color range wise, and difficult/near impossible if the parents are different color ranges from each other. Takes some time scrying and hunting through dragon search...

Breeding project. So far, that’s been the only way to get what I want in a fandragon. There have been times I’ve found the right dragon for sale, or just decided a dragon was going to be a fandragon, but most of the time I have a very specific goal in mind, so I have to start a breeding project.

i only really have one specific fandragon right now to be fair(there are others representing ES schools of magic so they are more broad), but when i have an idea i just kind of dive into the AH for a g1. like for my Fennorian it was jut a vague 'white range primary because vampire, brown range secondary because hair, and Plague because ES vamps have red eyes' and i just scryed what the ones that came up until i was like 'yes, you.'.

Some of my fan dragons have been breeding projects. Most of them are purchased from the Auction House.

I’ve done a little of both. I’ve found hatchlings that look close enough, and also bred for specific obscure colors. I think I prefer just finding hatchlings on the AH, it’s less work, though the design aspect is fun.

Well uh in my lair I have uhh, 8 fandragons or so!
The two on my front page, HANji and LEvi, I requested my friend name two dergs and she said han and levi, so I looked at my two new hatches and said huh, it looks like their uniform color. And so they became fandragons!
I sought out some of them, like Alex (who's from magnus chase)
I donated some foodsies to a hatchery (https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/baz/2974118) and got first pick on a dragon and yeah thought hmm, this could be a fandragon!

I don't follow the characters super carefully, just their names and slapp some apparel on them. Sometimes, the color or birthday is enough >:3

I nose around for colors that I think would fit the character- not only checking the auction house but dragon search & the dragon sales forums- looking for the best match.

Usually I start with an idea in mind, then work from there, it's a whole lot of trial and error.

It can be a long process... apparently, the color combo I need for a dragon is only on two exalted dragons... dirt/coal/leaf-radioactive breeding project here I come

The one time I bred for a specific colour combination for a fandragon, I ended up hatching a G1 with the exact same colours days later. Now I just buy dragons that fit the ideas I have in my mind. I'm very picky about it though and I still only have a handful of complete fandragon projects.

I only do G1s, don't do anything G1+ so it's all about whether those colours get rolled or not. I stalk the bookmarked Search for months on end, sometimes even years and hope I'll find a dragon who could resemble one of the people I'm trying to insert into my lore (yes, I am shameless)

100% breeding projects, easier, cheaper and faster (atleast getting the right colors)

I search for a dreg that is the right color and ask the user to sell it to me OR look for a pair that can get me the needed result and ask the owners if i can burrow them for a nest/one of them could host a nest (eyes are important, especially for FR Fandragons like Velya, Galore or Joxar as examples i own)

I usually offer an hostage of equal value as a safety save for users, but also pay or gift them stuff for said service (like a Berserker Stone as i noticed one of the Coli trainers had not 3 )

My current fandragon project is Fiona, i aquired a pair that got a 16,67% chance for each egg to get me the fitting colors as the combo i aim for doesnt exist (anymore), tho it will be all basic, but atleast Stained gene is the only huge payment for it
