that "no support" sounds curt and unkind, even if it's part of a larger post?

In Suggestions? Not really. It is kind of odd if people give no explaination to them not supporting the suggestion, but it's not usually meant in a mean way.

not really, it's just direct and to the point of your opinion.

is very likely to take your posts literally - has difficulty discerning if tone is joking

Nope. The suggestions forum is a blunt place. They're just clearly stating they don't support the suggestion. Usually it's followed by a reason.

I'd suggest, to those sensitive to criticism, to avoid the suggestions forum. People there are often seen as 'toxic' (and hey maybe some might be idk) but it's often full of people bluntly stating opinions and- sometimes- facts on the topic.

[/quote] Pretty much this, but I do think a lot of the time people are unnecessarily harsh in those forums. Why I’ve started posting less and less in there each day

I get too many pings, please PM if you ping and I don’t respond
I mean... how else are you supposed to say as succinctly as possible that you do not think a suggestion is a good idea and it is not something you want to see implemented? Do not want? Nope? Thanks I hate it?

It's just a tl;dr way of giving a yes/no before giving reasons why.

What are people supposed to say instead then to communicate clearly that they don't support the idea????

Maybe I hang out in suggestions too much, but it doesn't seem unkind at all to me, just straightforward.

I personally find it as a good way to take a very quick glance at replies to a suggestion and get a general gist of the ratio between support and no support. I don't have to look deeper into a post to find their opinion; just the first word or two will do.

This is a reminder to be patient with new players in the suggestions forum if they post something commonly suggested! The forum search isn't particularly outstanding or obvious.
