Can you imagine how cool it’d be to converse with any of the deities? I’m absolutely itching to put a scene like that in my lore but i don’t want to mary-sue my dragons if that makes sense (at least not make them any more OP)

I can imagine a meeting with the arcanist vividly:
You visit him in a dream, in his favourite spot in what seems like space itself. He is basically playing around with magic orbs while discussing things your mortal mind couldn’t ever comprehend. He uses a lot of jargon and science words. Then when you ask him what it all means he just smiles and you wake up with an angry glare because the old geek just wanted to flex how smart he is

I meet the arcanist and call him a nerd but thank him for at least giving us pink eyes (best color)
and honestly op if you wanna have your dragons talk to the deities in your lore I think you should! If anyone whines about your dragons being ~mary sues~ they're Cowards. especially since it's not like one person's personal lore affects too much unless it's rule breaking somehow and I don't think having a conversation with some funky big dragons is against the dragon website law lol

I've had a head canon about deities needing therapy and having some poor pearlcatcher dealing with the lightweaver who was traumatized by the glitter her followers throw about. (which we actually do in the light forums glitter gifs for all!) she's holding a massive cup of tea shuddering and says "It got dark! And not the dark my sister does..." then the pearl catcher coughs out some glitter and the lightweaver screams like a little girl

This boys entire lore was based on a bot messaging system for arcane flight where you could chat with the "Arcanist" that then launched into one of the few times I've written fanfiction.

I mean... the deities used to have accounts that'd talk on the forums. Talking to them was a thing you could do. So I don't think there's any call for anybody to call your kiddos Mary Sues.

Mary Sues are only Mary Sues if they change the world around them to reflect them in a perfect light. If say, the Plaguebringer decided to give up her whole pestilence thing because one of your dragons called it stinky, that would fit the definition of a Mary Sue. Every interaction below that level is great!
I’m just imagining the WindSinger coming down for a bit of tea (or a whole lake in dragon proportions) and a chat, while a skydancer family is just panicking and trying to act cool while trying to quickly buy two thousand teabags.
