The somber spirit familiar is basically a skeleton a a purple mist and i had always wondered if it could possibly be a real animal. So after looking around online i have come to a conclusion.

is CAT!
The main thing I went off of is the skull of the common household cat. The main difference is how the bottom jaw joins together but the cats of Sornieth could be very different from our cats.
Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk.

Exactly what I was thinking!
Just a funfact for those who don’t know what we mean: contrary to popular belief, snakes don’t “unhinge” their jaws. They actually have a split in their jaw to further allow them to expand their mouths- it’s best featured when they’re yawning, go ahead and look it up if you want.
It is very interesting! Least to me!
This either implies the Somber Spirit and its recolor either have this split naturally or broke their jawline before they became spirits… I’m more-so hoping for cat snakes “X:)
