So I know basically nothing about the ancient breeds (was on hiatus for years, came back this March or so).
Do they have a rarity ranking system like modern breeds do (ie imperial vs fae for instance)?
Also, can you breed different ancient breeds together? (Which I guess would influence my earlier question)
Anything I should know other than the fact that breed changing erases modern genes, or the fact that they can’t breed with modern dragons?
Trying to get my info straight prior to the breed release uwu

Ancients can only breed with individuals of the same breed, because they each have genes unique to their breed. Not sure on the rarity, however.

Withstand I had been hoping that they could breed with each other and the genes they had inherited would depend upon the parents genes, but that makes sense and I had a sinking feeling it would be that way.
Thank you for the response!

Ancient breeds can only breed with ancients of the same species, so veilspun and veilspun, but not gaoler and veilspun. Genes all have different rarities, same as with moderns.
They cannot be dressed, but they can use scenes (they were released to offset the delays on modern breeds caused by fitting thousands of apparel pieces).
Because they can't wear apparel, it also allows the designs to break the general 4 leg 2 wings rule the modern dragons are bound by. However, only one dragon breed (currently), breaks this trend, (the next ancient looks like it will, there is a silhouette in the newest update).
They also have genes that can break the outline much more than modern dragons have. With Veilspun specifically, diaphanous interferes with multigaze, but that is not an error, just a drawback of the current layering system.
And some genes are exclusive to these ancient breeds, beyond the line-breaking ones, like Phantom for Gaolers, Ragged for Banescales, and Shell for Veilspun.

yeah, each Ancient breed is pretty much their own species, rather than all together one like Modern dragons.

is very likely to take your posts literally - has difficulty discerning if tone is joking
Though it doesn't matter much because they can't breed with other species anyway, all ancients so far released have a 20-day cooldown, which puts them on the same Common tier as the likes of Spirals and Ridgebacks.

Also, since you can't have mixed breed ancient nests, they can lay up to five eggs in one nest, whereas with modern breeds if you have two of the same breed the max nest size is four.
