Flight Rising Discussion

Discuss everything and anything Flight Rising.
TOPIC | Upcoming Changes to Site Ads
In conjunction with Hiveworks, our engineering team has been looking for ways to improve upon the quality of ads shown on the Flight Rising website. After a lot of research, we found that the very restrictive UI containers in which we house our ads could be affecting that quality. The more restrictive the area, the smaller the ad pool, and the more likelihood that a not-so-reputable ad could surface. In our first step towards improving this, we will be making our bottom ad (shown below the major content area) area flexible enough to support a wider range of ad sizes, and thus be able to surface ads from much more reputable sources than in the past. (Caption: Screenshot of the bottom of the Flight Rising website, depicting how an ad slightly wider than the interface might display.) This change and how it affects browsing on the website should be negligible, but we will of course be monitoring it over time to ensure that remains the case. The change is due to take affect on Thursday, August 19th just after rollover, and should you notice any adverse effects from it, especially with regard to malicious ads or ad quality, you are encouraged to report it in this thread, where we keep those reports documented for review and investigation. Thank you!
