TOPIC | Pretty Dragons Even W/out Apparel??

Please, it’s so disappointing to find a breathtaking dragon only to discover through their morphology that they’re actually really unattractive, but just wearing a skin and several apparel items!!
Here’s my boy:

He’s like a Halloween sort of dragon, I suppose. I like him a lot, and I’m trying to decide whether or not he even needs apparel.

I think your dragon looks fine even without any apparel!

On a more general note, I don't understand why some gen 1 collectors buy expensive triples or doubles only to then cover them in a usermade accent or skin, which tends to hide a lot of their colors...

I totally get you. Maybe my dragon poor is showing but I really don’t get why gq collectors scatter like 30x then give the dragon full gem genes only to throw a skin and 20 apparel on them

[/quote] Shoutout to that one dragon I have who was a G1 for the entire purpose of wearing a skin. Yeah, I had that with a bunch of my dragons. Just not pretty without skins or loads of apparel. For my actual projects I usually try to avoid that.

I'm someone who's been on both sides of the coin.

Sometimes, I use almost-fully covering skins for specific dragons/genes because I want that one specific part that isn't covered to look good. Sometimes I buy dragons specifically to use for a skin because I like the skin so much. Some like to cover up parts that they dislike, such as a secondary that they feel to look bad (in their own eyes, ofc) as well. Other times I like how a dragon looks so much that I give them minimal things.

However, for the most part, putting a ton of apparel/skins/accents on my dragons is kind of how I show them affection (as much as one could give to a dragon png anyhow, lol)

It can also act as a test of dressing - like, oh you have this dragon that looks simply meh... but can turn out really stunning given the right apparel or accent. It can be a bit of an achievement to some people to make those types of dragons work.

I suppose it's just a difference in opinions/playstyle. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all. Something you may find breathtaking may be something that the owner feels needs covering-up.

Cute dragon, btw!! :oo Love how Trail looks there.

However, I am confused when people spend thousands of gems on a nicely colored Gen 1, gene it up, then hide most of the features that made the dragon so precious in the first place. Of course, everyone can play the game however they want, but I'm pretty intrigued by that kind of design choice xD
