TOPIC | when lore is so ingrained with ur flight

it kinda makes it impossible to switch flights. ive been trying to muster up the courage to start everything over- i love my clan, and nature, but it's just not fitting with me anymore. i've been considering just selling all the dragons i have and starting fresh, since i still have my free flight change- i'm just kinda awkward and nervous about making that final jump. it's a lot of lore that i'm throwing out!

on that notion- have you ever thrown out tons of written lore, because of a flight change? how did you go about starting your entire clan over?

Your lore doesn't have to take place in the flight you are actually in. There a many people here who have lore from different flights.

I personally never switched, but I have sold or exalted dragons with a lot of lore in the past because I didn't like them anymore.

You could still keep all of your previous lore if you wanted to, no need to get rid of it.
I've seen a lot of users that has split their dragons into two or more clans that, in their lore, live in different flights.
Perhaps you could keep some of the more lore-heavy dragons in a separate tab and have them be an allied clan to your new lore clan?

I shoved my Earth lore family in the den and moved on. There's no rule that says you can't have tabs that represent a different flight ^^ Become a franchisee, open a second location ;-D

Add it into your lore that your Clan moved flights for some reason!
Thats what I did with mine when I switched from Plague to Earth <3 That way you can still keep your lore and build upon it

i didn't exactly have this problem, but instead of "throwing out" all my old lore, i just expanded upon it when i decided to do something completely different instead.

my original lore was that my progens stole eggs and dragons from other clans, and being a windie helped with the escape sequences. they moved to shadow for a bit (as i did!) because that befitted their shady actions way more, but since i wanted to move back to wind (i missed the aesthetic) i just wrote in an in-clan coup and there was new management run by new dragons

that allowed me a lore reason to dump all the dragons i DIDN'T want (which i always gave away to newbies back in the days of site sign-up periods), and it ended up giving me way more to write about! so maybe if you don't want to just throw out all your old lore, you could write it as a thing-of-the-past in the overall lore instead?

Same here well at least it was... my lair was tied to nature well a specific piece of land it was almost impossible to move but I did.. to plague and I have been much happier.

1: come up with a reason they have to leave
So I created a event that basically kicked them out of nature... basically even though they were devoted to the gladekeeper she decided to revoke her permission to use her land and banished them to plague.

2: dragon by dragon see how thst would affect them, how it changes their personality and how they cope. It's ok if some dragons are broken because of this it makes more dynamic lore.

When I moved a lot of my dragons became broken but some thrived in there new home. Most are just surviving trying to keep moral in this dramatic change of lifestyle.

3: the ones that can not find a way to cope... you can say the move killed them or they left the clan.

Many of the dragons that lore wise could not cope I just say died when the expulsion happened. Or are lost and the clan could not re locate them.

4: create a new clan in the flight that was established there and has the astetics and merge your remaining nature clan with them.

I created a lair and lore for plague then found a way that my nature clan could be integrated lore wise. It made it seem so real and not perfect story safe that starting over would of been.

5: embrace conflict character evolution and weaknesses it makes lore much better.

My dragons evolved over time, I never restarted or removed a character I just lored how the events or change elected them. Some of my noble heros are not mental messes because they are having trouble coping with the loss.

Lol, I have lore in Nature, Earth, Fire, and potentially Light (still waffling on that one), and a travelling circus basically that travels across 4 different flights. Never let your flight alignment hold you back on going crazy with writing lore for anywhere and everywhere!
