i'm curious as someone who's lair is slowly getting more and more g1s

i used to be entirely, now i just have four non g1s.
2 pure second gen imps(since otherwise i would have no imps)
and two fodder breeders but.

ALWAYS poor. genes and clothing eats everything.
no breeding, i didn't do it at all before, but i got two dragons specifically just to make exalt dragons. i just don't like the 'breeding' part, which is why my 'breeders' are literal food dragons that are making noodles.

as for why. a lot of my dragons are not 'dragons' so i figured gen1s would get that across better as not having a source point.

Slowly g1s are taking over my life. First it starts with saving. I tell myself to always at least have 3kg saved aside. Then I splurge, but don't worry I still have 2kg left and it's okay, right? Then I spend more and more until I'm at my last dime and I have to consume my time with commissions to get more gems for this new strange addiction of orphaned children because seeing double none satisfies me. My pockets are sobbing. I only breed them if they already have children for the fear they may become worthless.

For me I have a very strategic way of saving up for the things I need (and want).

I always try and have at least 500kt and 500g. And if I don’t have pure currency, I go on an Auction House hoard selling mission. Because, just in case. I plan for most of my purchases and enjoy having at least a small idea in my head.

For some people, it's having something exclusive, cosmetic, and highly valued.
I notice a lot of the Gen 1 only lairs are by popular UMA makers or hatcheries!

When I see a well-constructed Gen 1 lair it feels like looking at a custom Tesla roll by. Just very luxurious and covered in glamour.

I switched to gen ones because I like the sense of accomplishment when I finish a project. I prefer not to breed, but that's mostly for lore purposes and to maintain value in case I ever decide to sell them down the line (I rarely do, but just in case). Also I'm almost always broke. My FR wallet weeps but my heart is full.

Most of my lair is g1, I'm forever broke but I make my gems through my adopts mostly! I hope to get into skins/accents soon.

I breed some of them but not others. Most kids end up being fodder but that's alright by me. They're bred for lore mostly anyway.

G1 hoarding for me personally is spending all my funds on a pretty, be it the dragon, its genes, expensive apparel or a skin for them.
It's also just suffering bc dreams either don't exist or they become expensive.

I never breed them tho, unless they're fodder they won't be bred at any point.
