What are some genes that you genuinely WANT to like, but you just... can't? And why? Is it a part that's just slightly offputting or weird looking that keeps you from liking it? or something else?
Now these are just personal opinions! Please don't get bash-y or anything fellas.
For me it's Lace (tert), Keel (tert) and Eal (primary and it's secondary part)
There's probably more but these stand out the most for me.
I really like the belly/neck part of lace, but dislike how far it extends into the wings on some breeds.
Keel is kind of the same. I like it on the body for the most part, but then it's on the wings too and it just looks off to me.
Eal/secondary eal (whatever it's called) I'm still on the fence about and I'm not entirely sure why. I like most other animal based genes so I dunno why this one is throwing me off.

I think for me, it's Contour, Keel, and Metallic. I love the concepts of all of them, but Metallic often shifts the colors to be too dark with some exceptions. Keel, love the idea, the execution sort of confuses me. Contour, mm, so much potential, but I can't get over the look on the shoulders and sometimes, the back legs.

Crackle, gembond, and koi. They're all just a little bit much. I really wanted to like koi, but the undertones are all really weird.

Oh man I fully agree with you @/Kyr about Contour, the hips/shoulders and sometimes face is just... O.o to me anyway.

Laced n Edged, I really wanna like em cause they're good mimics for feathers and scales but they just... idk, don't look nice a lot. I feel like the colors are applied in a weirdly murky tone? Which makes it off-putting. Nothing wrong with the pattern, just the color.
I also really do not like Butterfly at all. Which feels weird cause it's this uber expensive gene that a lot of high value G1's have but it just looks BAD to me. I cannot pin down why exactly I have just never seen a Butterfly dragon I like.
Eyespots I also do not really like, but it can be okay sometimes. It has a bit of the same issue Lace/Edge has for me where the colors feel much more drab and murky than usual, but sometimes it just looks like basic with a little basic pattern and that works for me.
Gembond I also don't usually like. It's just.... look at it.

Mosaic and Breakup just... never really appealed to me. Dunno why, but there's something about them I can't get behind. Laced and Edged also are ehh.

I want to like filigree, but the gem colour is often so far off from what the tert colour is, mostly red, which doesn't work with most of my dragons
