I'm reviewing my lore, editing, moving some stuff around. And I kinda have to laugh at recurring themes. I seem to write loners, emotional stunted adults with hangups about commitment, love etc. They're all freaking broken. And probably autistic (but as an autistic person I don't know how to write a fleshed out neurotypical.. it would all be creepy tropes a la "it's like they know us")

Do you have recurring themes? Do you go all out supernatural? I seem to stick to slice-of-life within site canon. I like it that way though.

I'd best describe my lore as "dark fantasy". Basically a fantasy world with lots of messed up stuff going on underneath and no clear morally good side. Probably because I've played too many video games set in worlds like this, haha.

So I have a lot of the standard fantasy tropes like the seemingly peaceful village, wild forests full of magic, plenty of gods, ambitious dragons who try to kill or become like gods, evil monarchs, a large fancy city with a dark secret, etc.

i don't often like to write my dragons as individuals, but more like monsters and creatures, often describing things that happen around them rather than the thing themselves. the idea of personalities is hard for me, so i don't like to write about things that are 'people' very often, other than in passing reference.

Common themes?
Bad life decisions and things are always on the verge of going south.

Just the tint of doom on the horizon. Like watching a movie that is about a zombie apocalypse, but you are seeing the calm peaceful scenes before that happens. I just love horrific things, and have a bunch of instances of 'you can see how this is going to go badly for everyone involved, it just hasn't quite happened yet'.

I try to diversify things like hatchling phases and reasons they leave and join this clan. The general backstories are actually really easy to differ just those early days and open endings can be... eh.

I feel like X reason they joined is similar. Either they find a mate and stay or they have skills the clan likes so they're just like "lol guess I live here now as X"
Not all do that but quite a few.

And lots of tragic characters or social outcasts, but that kind of ties into the main lore of the clan ie; a place where anyone is given a second chance even if they might not deserve it // a place to go when there's nowhere else to go.
