for those who dont know, ARG stands for Alternate Reality Game, it's basically a story players must unlock bits of by solving puzzles and clues, either through online website, the real world, or by decoding hidden messages using ciphers. at least, that's my nutshelly bad explination of it. i wonder if there are any ARGs that happened here on FR?

We had a lot of those flooding the forums some time ago, none I remember because they all appeared to be cheap shots at the horror ARG trend back then.

I think most have been removed since they were getting kinda spammy and contributing nothing.

A few have happened, but for the most part, new ones don't occur as they're not allowed under spam rules.

I think there's some flexibility, provided a user restricts them (ie: just to forum games or their own account), but a few accounts pushing it by creating multiple nonsensical threads in FRD have kind of ruined it for earnest people.

There's been a few that've tried, I remember there was one about water towers? But they don't really belong here in FRD so they're mainly limited to Forum Games (I believe) and I don't know if they get seen as much over there. That's the limit of my experience with them though, the few who've tried to spam FRD.

I think there were a few users who made some with their own lairs, but I can't remember any names sadly.

[/quote] man, that's sad, i'd really love to see a crazy ARG with Naomi or something like that, i get why it's banned though [s]lol imagine if the devs made a whole ARG to announce a crazy lore update like tidelord coming back that would be awesome[/s]

There was kinda sorta of an official one. The devs sneakily released a ton of these paper scraps into the site without announcing them and we just started digging them up and finding them in chests and stuff (this was also long before the game database was a thing so we couldn't just sort trinkets by id number). A few months later after we solved them we got the [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/ann/1206140]Beastclans dominance[/url] update.

ARGs are actually forbidden under the Spam rule.

I remember there was one involving an account called HWT, which is locked now, which involved donating dragons and a countdown of some sort, I think? I don't remember too much of it. There was also one involving a black image with static, not sure if it was the same one.

Generally, FR does not like ARGs as they mainly appear as nonsense spam (which most are), so if anyone was gonna make one it would have to be clearly lore-based and have a sense of story to it. I think that if it was a thread that sparked interest in the community and had a puzzle to it it wouldn't be marked as spam or against the rules.

Reading this, it’s actually fairly sad that they’re banned under spam rules. Maybe someone could make a Discord Server instead of posting on the forums.
