I name them something related to the character! Such as if I were to make a breeding project for the Tide Mice from Hilda, I would name the parents both “Enchant” or “Soul”

What do you name yours?

I try to give them good names based on their individual appearances/vibes. Most of them get random words translated into Czech. But of course, we also have the rocks... so far I haven't had any fanderg breeding projects for families, so I don't really care to give the parents appropriate names. I just kinda name each dragon individually.
...that said, I do try to stick to the theme a little! I haven't started this project yet because I don't have a derg to be the father, but I am planning to breed a Kovu (Lion King 2) fandragon. the mother is named Zira, and if Kovu happens to have a sister and a brother from the same nest, his siblings will be named Vitani and Nuka.
I mostly tend to stick to the theme with siblings from the same nest, I don't care for siblings from different nests all that much.

yeah i give them fitting names where possible (though that's been like, only twice so far)

if the parent(s)/mentor(s) names are knowed i use them, otherwise i use concept that shape the character has who they are or concept that are very dear to them.

I'm working on a fandragon project for Windows Vista, of all things, so I named the parents "Longhorn" and "Vienna" after two of its codenames. EE's an OC fandragon, but her parents were named after various things that related to her conceptually (and then got incorporated into her lore themselves). The final pair that made her dragon was Corruptium and Ellendalicon.

I try to name them something related to the character as much as possible! For example, I named my Dogma pair 'LivingIn' and 'TheLight' after the song that plays during Dogma's boss battle. I also named my Belfly pair 'Hunters' and 'Journal' since Belfly's broadcast message is a quote from that. I also have a couple of song dragons in the works with parents named after the song writer/band.

Basically just anything I can think of relating to where the character can be found/their origin are my favorite fandragon parent names, but when those are in short supply I'll fall back on cool references instead.

depends on the character + how close range the pair is to producing what I need.

If it's a long range or I'm not really in the mood to come up with fitting names it'll be something random.

However, if I know the character's parents and I can almost guarantee getting the right hatchling quickly I'll probably name them after the character's parents. Otherwise, again, it'll just be random or a 'vibe' I get to reflect the character's theme.


Sometimes I'll get studs pre-named so I don't bother to change those. The parent list isn't important to me tbh.
