Flight Rising Discussion

Discuss everything and anything Flight Rising.
TOPIC | Is it worth coming back after 7 months?
Back in 2020 and especially early 2021, I grinded Flight Rising a lot. I spent almost all my free time playing it, because I thought it was cool to collect unique dragons and give them backstories. However, after a while, I got burnt out and decided to spend my free time hanging out with friends and playing console games.

Anyways, today was my first time logging in over 7 months. The only reason why I logged in was because I needed an art commission. Looking on the site, there's been quite a few changes. Night of the Nocturne is back, and there's something called Dustcarve Dig. I'm just wondering, is it worth playing Flight Rising again after a 7 month break? I do remember coliseum farming being really tedious, but at the same time, having virtual dragons is cool...

Literally only you can decide that. It's worth it if you think it would be fun!

I think it really depends on how much of a perfectionist you are, but also what draws you to the game to begin with. They've made it a lot easier to be a passive FR player (festival currency dropping through basic daily stuff like talking to crim or bonding) so even when I'm really busy with work, I can still participate. I only grind when I have the energy and feel up to it.

It also helps to have people to talk to and set goals with.

I don’t bite.
@Jhortanas @Delleska

Thanks for the info y'all. I might talk to my old online FR group to see if they still play, and I'll probably just passively play and only grind for a little bit each week. My favorite aspect of the game was honestly breeding dragons, so not being super dedicated works for me :)

i don't think the duration of your break is super relevant, honestly. it's totally normal to take hiatuses! it just depends on if you're interested or not! a new ancient breed should be coming out in the next couple months, if that gains your interest.

I have started to notice I have a pattern of returning to sites like these every winter (since childhood without realizing) and I am sure it has to do with less daylight hours in general. Inside hobbies and sites like this are how I refill my social needs! Ahahaha.

Point being, FR is definitely fun to come back to for some casual collecting every now and then. If you're looking for immersion, indeed console games can be a better draw. But if you're looking to collect, customize, and be more laid-back, then this is totally a game for that mood.

(Plus sadly there are zero console games that even remotely scratch the surface of a good creature collecting game. Pokemon is as good as it gets and there just isn't that much you can do with your collected creatures, at least not casually. So for that reason, I keep coming back)

FR is very easy to get back into. i've taken huge hiatuses before and have just jumped right back in.

@lunaeavis Yeah I saw that the devs have released some new breeds, and I didn't know that they were releasing a new ancient breed. I think it's pretty cool that the devs are still making new content that's accessible for everyone, including F2P players.

@Dracowolfie I have to agree that FR is the only collection game of its kind. Sure, Dragonvale and Pokemon are similar, but they don't have nearly as many customization options. Even though Flight Rising doesn't have flashy animations or base building, it's still really unique, and I wish it had a larger player base.

I've been stumbling back on for 8 years now, joined back in the old days. It's nice to have a chill game to play, and I personally still enjoy things because I hoard gen1 dergs and its handy to have ready made projects. Also, finding a good audiobook, music, or podcast or movie to watch while grinding in the coli is ideal. Heck, if I just want to listen to a video I'll grind while listening to a video too. Not to mention the devs are very good about adding new things to enjoy. Taking breaks is normal, and I find a lot of the folks who have been around a while come back for a bit, take a break after a while, and stumble back some time after. Or at least that's what I have seen with a number of my friends. Ultimately the choice is up to you, but, its completely normal.
