EDIT: I changed it up as I think I might've come off a little harsh in the original post, so sorry about that!
My question was, why are so many people upset about Phar/Sarco being a gem gene?
As far as gem genes go, they usually have something rather special (aside from petal/butterfly imo). Take Iri/Shim and Metal/Alloy for example; they are shiny - not flat colored like most treasure genes. Colorshift and lineart also kinda plays a part, seen in Wasp/Bee and Star/Const... and Phar/Sarco happens to be mostly black, making it far more unique than the others. Arguably, several Baldwin genes are worthy of gem value, but money is replaced with time and resources. Of course, my opinion is subjective, as is everyone else's.
I understand that being 1500g is a lot for some people, and many of us aren't willing to spend $15. But gems are relatively easy to acquire compared to other virtual websites, and while continuously playing, racking up those big bucks comes rather quickly. Even though some of us don't/can't spend a long time here on FR, that's no one's fault. In fact, FR should be the least of our worries if work and school are on the schedule.
Letting staff know what we do/don't like is completely reasonable. I do agree that there needs to be some fixes with these new genes, considering how dark that black gets.. not to mention that the Staff are a small group of people compared to the thousands of us playing.
All I'm saying is that I think Phar/Sarco being a gem gene is reasonable.
EDIT: lastly, this is very important, and please remember this. In no way am I trying to "attack" anyone for not wanting it to be a gem gene. Opinions are allowed here, this is a discussion thread. Just trying to understand where the disappointment is coming from.
This right here is great.
My only issue with this is that.. buying gems is how Staff get money. And I'm not implying that they are greedy, but they are people who need to pay for things. Don't encourage people to not buy. If they want to, they will, and if they won't they don't. I have no problem with spending money here. Hell, I've probably spent over $100 on gems throughout my FR career but that's on me.
This is great as well! I laughed because that's exactly what Staff wants to happen here; based on, let's say, the Suggestion Thread, they can guess what we want and how much of a demand it will bring. We already see that Wasp/Bee and Star/Const are an extremely popular gene set and something that everyone was very excited about. And by that, we can all say gems were bought and spent.

Also *puts on Mod Hat*: Do not attack other players for expressing their personal opinion. People are allowed to say they're disappointed a new release costs gems, and they're not acting entitled for doing so. Thank you.

Yeah, but if you're not willing to spend premium currency on your "incredibly and definitely favorite set of genes," then you're probably not willing to spend premium currency at all. Or at least, not at the price point they want. Which is fair, you know your budget. But that's not a problem with the quality of the genes. If they're your favorite, then it seems like the quality is there.

If y’all are buying gems you shouldn’t be — trade your treasure and set up ways to make currency. I can’t imagine buying gems with cash. That’s never happening for me, no matter how much I enjoy the site.
They deserve the gem tag. They completely modify the primary and secondary!

I love the new genes and I think they're deserving of the gem marketplace, I'm just sad all the gem genes I love also happen to wind up being the most expensive, as the amount of premium currency takes a loooong time to save up for. But those are personal opinions/problems XD
I think having a gene set that's predominantly black is a nice change of pace, compared to what else is available (like pie/paint, as some have said). I think it will REALLY hit the mark for a lot of people that prefer those darker pallets on their dragons!
Also, it could help dragons whose colors otherwise wouldn't work together seem less... eye-burny. The set looks REALLY good with Stained in a lot of the scries I'm seeing!
