does it feel weird to anybody else we haven't gotten much feedback from staff when it comes to how arlo's being received?
like on one hand i get it, theyre busy, but it feels like several threads now are being turned into arguments that don't need to happen because people are so split on arlo.
i personally agree that theres some actual issues with how arlo is being executed, but i know that's not everyones take on it. it just feels odd we haven't gotten much clarity on why things are the way they are at the very least.
i know it's only been a few days, also, it probably takes longer to get a good basis on what everyone thinks, but with how this forum has been mostly arlo talk (not all of it positive, i'd actually say a good portion of new threads on the first page can be boiled down to arlo frustration) i hope we get like. a bit of clarity
at the very least i'd like to see the mods reminding people to be civil, the amount of passive aggressiveness i see in these threads can be hard to read.

I completely agree that some people are being very... a tad uncivil. Personally I think everybody is overreacting. This is a trading post NPC that is able to get us more than anything any of the other NPCs can get us save for Baldwin, and yet people are apparently really really mad that there's some balancing to it, for example, the fact that you can only have so many plots uncovered at a time. Apparently that's such a bad thing, to make it so that the genes don't become worth pocket change? It's even slower to get apparel or even genes from Baldwin, taking into consideration needing materials.
Anyways, I'm getting sidetracked, I really just think you can't make everyone happy and the people who aren't happy are blowing up about it way more than they should. Arlo is our most complex and interesting NPC yet.

Okay but the problem isn’t that you can only have so many plots open at a time, the problem is that you can only have ONE and you can’t do ANYTHING until it’s reset.
I wouldn’t mind if you could only have a couple stay cleared at once, that would be fine. And I’m not even upset about the current system, it’s just kind of disappointing

Niceless yeah i get your point on that, i really like arlo despite everything, i do think it needs some polish, but i'm having a blast. thats what you'll expect from every new feature on any site though, probably needs some polish, thats all.
with how angry people are getting though it's hard to be excited about anything. feels like if i say i love arlo i'm ignroing it's problems but if i talk about the problems it feels like im dissing it, it's weird. the forums are like this alot though, so while disappointing its not like. new.

I think it's wild that people are already just circumventing the entire notes system by buying notes lol like wasn't this what people were afraid would happen with likes?
And yeah there's so many things about this feature that I would have changed just based on how similar things work in other phone based mobile games. Stuff like spamming friend requests, buying notes and making the guild trade so much slower that anybody whos ever picked up a game like AFK arena or the like could have seen coming miles away.
I haven't started any threads criticizing it because I know people love to get mean when anybody slows the hype train but personally I'm not a fan of this feature at all.

i like the feature, and do get why some things might be the way they are.
you get a whole bunch of items for essentially free, just an investment of time.

is very likely to take your posts literally - has difficulty discerning if tone is joking

I also don't really understand why it matters if the genes become worth pocket change? Nothing else on the site holds value very well and most of the coliseum genes are worthless anyway. There's no precedent for makeing sure genes hold value.

I'm not really sure what's disappointing about it, I think everyone just expected too much from, let me reiterate, a trading post NPC, whomst of which are among some of the most useless features in the game. Crim steals your stuff in exchange for pocket change (especially in comparison to the G&G gains, and especially with the fact that you have to check if the item is useful), Tomo isn't worth my brainpower personally, I don't think Arlo is disappointing. I think only being able to have one plot open at a time is perfectly reasonable for what Arlo is; free stuff, far more than what Pinkerton gives.

This precisely. And apparently people are mad that it's RNG, when the magnifying glasses are the solution to that? If you want one item fast, you use all of your magnifying glasses there, and any pickaxes that get you a slot are a bonus. There is RNG, sure, but there is a nearly guaranteed average timeframe of getting each item.
