What if,
once a year,
during a Flight's Festival,
Basic-gened dragons breeding in that Flight's nests produced hatchlings blessed by their Deity with an intense Limited Flight-linked gene pattern called "Elemental" in place of Basic-- an exclusive gene set with no gene scroll, that like Imperials can only be acquired through breeding, and that manifests a different pattern when hatched from different Flights (i.e. aurora bands on Light dragons, frost patterns on Ice dragons,etc...)
What would that be like?

Oh yeah, good thing not to put this in suggestions because it is.... JUST Primal eyes for genes before the vial update and by Arcanist do I not want that. At all.
Fest weeks would get way more busy with something like this, everyone would be breeding or renting their nests out for high prices in hopes of getting these genes- either for projects, clout, or to sell.
People would probably start intentionally keeping basic dragons too, it'd become considered necessary to have an All Basic breeding pair so you can get the special genes during fest week.

honestly yeah i like this a lot. i am of the opinion that not everything should be accessible using vials and scrolls and itd be a very interesting mechanic,

Why limit it to basic then? Let anyone nesting during festivals have the same chance to be cursed and watch the drama unfold, lol. Tho I'm guessing it'll only last for the first set of festivals and then will become more of a casual nuisance.
