Now I thought about the opposite: What is a gene I used to love but now not so much anymore?
My answer is Scales. I used to think it looked so cool and I'd brew it all the time but now when scrying it usually looks kind of ugly imo (especially on Obelisks). It can still look great under the right circumstances I think, but yeah, I have to pick Scales.

fadeblend. i was fascinated when i came from hiatus and saw then, but then flafla came out too and i completely lost my interest in fadeblend in favor of such superior genes, lol

Runes. I used to scry just about everything with it, since I didn't tend to use very busy primary genes. Now, I think it can look really cluttered - especially since a lot of my dragons have darker tertiaries. I think it usually only looks good on dragons with simpler primaries (savannah, iridescent, basic, etc.) or darker colors with a bright tertiary.
Let's ignore the fact that my avatar is a light-colored dragon with flaunt/runes.

I loved ghost when I first joined but as I'm trying to move more towards having a lore lair with a certain aesthetic I don't know if ghost fits anymore.

Definitely gotta say Runes too. I still use it sometimes and have a bunch of dragons leftover from when I was obsessed with it because I still like them as is, but now I just prefer other genes most of the time! The hard line between the markings on the feet and the rest of the leg tends to be what throws me off the most with it, so I'm less tempted to use it instead of genes that don't bother me like that.
Also because of the glow, I feel like it starts to muddy colors on the body section sometimes, and I'm not really a fan of that either.
