This might be a silly question, but I don't think it belongs in the Help board since it's mostly a matter of opinion - but is swapping with Swipp worth it? Is the chance that you'll have what he's looking for and be able to trade for it and then make treasure on it (if you don't keep it for yourself, obviously) worth not just hoardselling the materials themselves? What's your input on it?

Personally, I don't use Swipp at all. There might be some things that are worth it, but I don't have the patience to collect all the materials for something and then just wait around for when he might have it. If I want something that bad, I usually just cough up the treasure in the AH!

If you plan on selling materials, sell them on the auction house (I assume thats what you meant but just making sure!) or you will be massively losing out.

I think if I got sick of waiting for swipp to get a certain trade, then I might buy it on the AH, in which case selling the actual item would be more helpful.

If swipp currently had the trade, then of course I would check to see if buying materials was cheaper if I didn't want to bother getting them myself. Selling mats is better in this case.

I don't really think there's more benefit either way, except for you would get a bigger lump sum if you sold the trade items rather than individual materials.

The answer is math.

Head to the AH and price the total cost of ingredients and the item it makes to figure out which to sell. This goes for both selling and buying if it's something you want.

Also take into account that during NotN trading with Swipp gives you a chance to get items/chests where you also have a chance to get eggs.

i mean if there's an item you want bad enough, i'd say so! i've also finally started saving materials to get gilded chests whenever they pop up, and that's always an opportunity for free gems.
i will say that gathering items for some of the trades is SUPER tedious though, especially as a more casual player who doesn't use the coli a lot. literally been wanting the dusty pauper set for years now and i still haven't gained enough tattered interloper scraps. saving for the winter wolf pelt was also a pain and i'm not keen on doing that again. e_e

In my quest for the Swipp Familiars, a few of those fams and their items are expensive!! And the Pink Mums for the Blossom gene, probably always gonna be pricey, so if you have any of those items or get them on the regular, it might pay off to sell them instead of hold on to them and trade them to Swipp.

I like using swipp because I grind in coli a lot so oftentimes I will just have the items anyway, and if an item has a use beyond being sold, exchanged for food points, or melted at baldwins I like to use it for that because every other item can do those things too.

swipp items can ABSOLUTELY be super profitable! I coli grind a lot and I always keep swipp materials around, because sometimes I'm able to make the trades and those items usually sell for huge premiums. For example, Quetzeels require a coli material and an Uncommon fish from gathering. While I was maxing my fishing level, I got a bunch of those fish, and I traded with swipp for practically nothing (idr if I traded with his daughters so I may have paid Some small amount of treasure), and I got about 3 quetzeels. Made about 600kt in total, just from them!

there are some swipp items that arent worth much, for a number of reasons, but a good rule of thumb is to either keep a swipp trade item or sell it on the auction house. Depending on the swipp item you can make something like 30kt per!

I checked by every so often and trade any materials I have, but I don't chase anything specifically. I do often have things since I hoard everything used for Swipp trades and never sell any of it (as with anything useful except hibden).
