Holy flying ketchup in a frying pan, Batman. @_@ Apologies if this is slow getting started, I wasn't prepared for this to have gotten so much support in such a short time, and RL is kind of hammering me right now. ))[/b] Someone else posted an idea about having a "parasite" dragon to spread across the site ( http://flightrising.com/main.php?board=frd&id=975754&p=mb ) and I found the idea intriguing, and it got me wondering: What other user-run events could we invent to add some more fun to our FR experience? Then I remembered stories about this little paper cut-out doll known as Flat Stanley (thanks for the name @GladeSong for reminding me of his name!) that was often sent home with school children so he could take pictures at different places like a parents' workplace or whatnot. I even had a younger cousin that got to do it back when I was still in school and I got to help with the project, and it was a lot of fun The stories were always written out as if he had traveled from place to place. So I was thinking... Would anyone else have fun with a "traveling dragon" that we could send from person to person, back and forth between Flights and all, with everyone making up a story about what he or she did while they were there? Like, from hunting to crafting to cooking to an actual mini-adventure. Simple things or elaborate, and it could have stories or even pictures, screenshots of outfits the dragon is put it, anything to add to the chronicle. And we could post them all in one place for everyone to read. I -am- going to make a central thread to post all of the stories and things in, and I think keep this thread on the side for people to sign-up in or for us to otherwise discuss things about the dragon(s) involved. We'll put links in the description to both threads, and then the participants can put short "when and where" type blurbs underneath that as sort of a "journal" for the dragon to carry around, with the full story and information being safe in the thread just in case something happens to the dragon's profile. Who-ever had the dragon would be free to have a breeding with them before they sent them on, if they wanted. Or they could just send them on when they were done with their entry, it's entirely up to you guys if you want to or not! I am accepting offers for dragons to start the project with, one of each gender, and one will be Guardian. The other isn't yet decided, or which one will be which gender! I think this is a full-of-fun idea, and would love to participate in the traveling dragon's travels if possible! ^_^ Also, it would be awesome if the dragon was named TravelingMatt (not sure if Uncle would fit heh heh).

It'd be best to send him around to only people participating at first. Don't want the poor guy to be exalted like our first parasite was. I'd be totally in for the ride, though!

I think with this I'd want to mostly send him to people who were interested in participating anyway. He's sort of a straight-Crossroads-trade situation between users who know what they're getting into. Maybe after a good number of participants have already had a go and the list of new people interested is getting slim we might consider sort of... surprise gifting him at some others with instructions attached, or something. But I think that considering the story-telling aspect of it that sending him to already-interested parties would probably work out better?

Definitely. That way the guy could get some great stories out of it from people who are interested in the story-telling aspect. So perhaps a list might be in order? What dragon were you thinking of sending out?

I would love to see the story in the dragon's bio! That'd be cool.

@GladeSong - Flat Stanley! That was it! Thank you. My younger cousin did that years ago when we were both in grade-school. I got to help my grandma doctor up one of the farm pictures with Stanley in it so it would look like he was there when they took it. XD She didn't want to actually risk putting him out in the field with the horses. rofl

I'm kind of amused with the idea of naming him TravelingMatt, though. I don't think most people would get a Fraggle Rock reference these days, but it's still kind of fun.

If I get enough people posting to this that it looks like it'll really take off I'll work out some actual text for a more serious thread and start looking for a dragon for it. :o

@Snowcat - I don't have a dragon in mind yet, though I'm considering getting a wind egg to hatch and see what happens. Just because lore-wise, Wind dragons are known for traveling all around and everything. XD But I'm open to suggestions!

Heck I've got several pairs RTB or that will be in a few days, maybe I'll just see what happens with some of them, I dunno.

I'll take volunteers too, we can just vote on one later maybe. XD

@Haisyn Well I do have a boy who I hatched from a wind egg a while ago and hasn't been bred. He's already named, but luckily I have a name change scroll handy if anyone else would like to volunteer named dragons as well. He's a guardian though, so not sure how that would fit with the lore...
