Why do flights matter?

To be fair, your flight not might really matter. You can probably play Flight Rising without ever getting too involved with your flight. But most of the time, your flight will matter, because of:

1. Dominance

Dominance is a great way a flight can come together. Your flight will work towards beating another flight in a dominance battle. It relies on mass exalting of dragons, and can be a lot of fun (although sometimes expensive, depending on the competition). These stats will be taken from the Dom Watch Tracker directly.

The rewards of winning 1st place dominance are:
-15% off Marketplace Treasure items
-5% off Lair Expansions
-1500 Treasure per day
-3 more Gathering Turns per day

The rewards of winning 2nd place dominance are:
-7% off Marketplace Treasure items
-1% off Lair Expansions
-750 more treasure per day
-2 more Gathering Turns per day

2. Aesthetic

Each flight has its own aesthetic in design, location, and eggs. Additionally, your flight determines the eye color of any dragons you breed. Flight aesthetic will be detailed more in the flight-specific posts.

3. Lore

Each flight has its own lore: its deity, its placement in the realm of Sornieth, and its in-game additions are all parts of a flight's lore. Flight lore will be detailed more in the flight-specific posts.

4. Community

Each flight has its own private general and sales forum. Both forums are key for players who want to immerse themselves in their flight's community. Are these forums active, are they slow? Flight community will be detailed more in the flight-specific posts.

What do you want from your flight?

There are a number of things to consider when picking a flight. For some players, they're happy to pick a flight based on the lore and deity of their flight. For others looking to be part of their flight's community, it's a little more difficult because of the restricted access to the private flight forums.

After signing up, you get one free flight change. After that, you'll have to wait 6 months, and it will cost 1500 gems (or about $15 USD). Flight Rising users will often pay this in order to change flights. Flight allegiance can play a huge part in your gaming experience, so choose carefully-unless you have gems to spend.

Make sure to keep these things in mind before picking your flight:

What am I most interested in?
-Breeding Dragons
-Dominance Pushes
-Meeting Like-minded People
-Fun vs Competitive Spirit
-Active vs Slow Forums
-Lore Building and Roleplay

These are the things that will make or break your flight experience! Now, onto the flights themselves.

@Istoki

Hi! Well, I can add that the ice flight quite often calls ourselves Icicles, and sometimes new members are called Snowflakes, or just Icicles also.

In addition to calling the Icewarden Lord Fluffylegs or Ice Papa, we also call him Icedad, Lord Legwarmers or Lord of the Legwarmers, sometimes Fluffdad or Lord Fluffbutt (maybe that's just me, though). Icedad is what I use most often in casual conversation.

We also have an Artists&Writers hub, some games, a birthday club, and other things I'm forgetting about.

We have a few subspecies, and although we have a hub thread for them in ice, we don't quite have it ready to make a public version yet, though (as far as I know. I'll keep my eye out for further discussion about it). The most active subspecies thread I've seen around is Frozen Lakes - made by @Watercolour . Other ones include Snowy Owls, Auroras, Ice Sculptures, and Wardenites.

@Istoki I'm not sure if notable members is something that needs to be added, that might be a little weird to single people out like that? I think a bit about how the community feels about dominance might be good to have though! ^^ Light in general likes to profit from the coli a lot, and we're usually down for big dom fights (and we don't back down from unplanned ones either!).
