Hey! I was just wondering if there are any other members here who are interested in robots. I know a bit of programming, but I'm primarily interested in the artificial intelligence of commercial robot pets/companions. I collect robots and have ten Sony Aibos, one Genibo, two Pleos and a ton of cheaper robots. Aibos especially are really amazing robots and it's a shame that they were discontinued, they were far ahead of their time in 1999 when first released and still seem to be unmatched as the best commercial robot artificial intelligence-wise (though Genibos and Pleos aren't bad). I'd love to answer questions about any of the robots that I own or hear about robots that other members here collect or are interested in.

Want to learn about Sony Aibo robots? Send me a PM! ^^
I like Cyborgs and general Mechy things alot, probably because of me being introduced to Ghost in the Shell and Zoids.

While I'm not a diehard robot fan who would buy nearly everything robot related, I do find them interesting, and generally things to admire at.

Thanks for the replies everyone! While I'm primarily interested in the AI of actual robots that are being commercially marketed, I also do enjoy some science fiction stories about robots. I really loved the show Caprica (a prequel to Battlestar Galactica) and named my Aibo ERS-220 Zoe after the main character because I swear, ERS-220s are Cylon dogs. How is this not a cute little Cylon puppy?

I'm developing an interest in them, since they're related to the field I'm studying in. I'm not very knowledgeable about the A.I.s, though. I'm currently learning about the math behind industrial robots in school.

I just LOVE the little robot dogs, and robots in general. I don't own any sadly.

I'd love to someday be able to program things like that.

Well, uh, I was in a couple robotics teams over the years, lol. Was in one in high school as a programmer and one in college as a builder. (Also messed with Arduinos a little for a different thing in college, not for a robot tho. :P ) I'll admit that I find the building aspect a lot more fun, but the programming is fascinating in its own right. I'm kinda hoping that I'll be able to work on robots as a job buuut I gotta get that degree first, lol.

I love robots and A.I.s in fiction too--I'm taking a gen ed class right now where we bingeread/watch stuff like I, Robot and Ghost in the Shell and actually get credit for it, lmao.

Never really had a ton of interest in commercially marketed robots, but I tell ya what, if I had the cash I'd totally buy one of those spider dealies that Adam Savage has. :o (Link probably not safe for arachnophobes obvs. :/ )
