Hi, I'm Finley!

I have dysthymia (chronic mild depression), social and generalized anxiety, sensory processing disorder, and it's very very likely that I have type I ADHD. I'm supposed to be on Lexapro but, ironically, my anxiety is keeping me from taking it. Brain stuff is indeed a fun ride :,)

Hello! It's nice to meet you, Grace. My name's Heather and I don't currently take medication anymore, but I did for quite some time. I was on various different anti depressants, mood stabilizers and other psychiatric medication from the ages of 14-19. I've also been diagnosed a whole mess of things by different professionals. I would not say I'm cured by any means, but I've been off medication for a little over a year now and am doing better than I have been to date. I definitely urge others to take their medication with a professional's guidance. All psychiatric medicine effects everyone differently.

I'd love to talk with anyone who wants and hopefully people can loosen some baggage in good company.

hello! i was really happy to see this pop up in the forums tbh!
I'm Katie! i've got a couple of mental illnesses, mainly depression, anxiety and bpd. the first two have been professionally diagnosed, while the bpd is self-diagnosed. there could be other things there but honestly i'm not sure. i'm currently not on any medication (tho honestly i think i should be) and i've been through counselling once in the past. i've been referred to CBT recently and i'm waiting to get my first appointment with them! hopefully that'll help haha

I guess the doctors saying something different every time is normal then? one of my doctors said i wouldn't need medication, but the one i saw recently said i might?? honestly any advice from people with experience with antidepressants and whatnot would be most appreciated!

Hey Grace, I'm Blaine~

I have bipolar disorder II, clinical depression, and I had PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.) I probably do have some sort of social anxiety but I don't think its as bad as my depression/bipolar. I've been all diagnosed from the doctor. I'm currently on two medications Trileptal (ayyy same one as me) and Seroquel XR. I actually had Lexapro for like a week but I was getting manic episodes so I refused to take it after that.

You might get different opinions on what you have for possibly a while? My first psychiatrist believed I had bipolar (and he was right) while when I was on a clinical trial, my clinical psychiatrist didn't. They were in the same office so it was easy for her to talk to him but in the end, she could see I had bipolar symptoms. (Though, from what my mom has told me, they were always more focused on the PTSD at the time.)

Hello~

I currently have some clinical depression, horrid anxiety, and Schizotypal personality disorder. Along with some OCD, and emotion issues (Which nobody has yet to tell me the name for. ._.) Most of which all started in elementary school, but I just got these diagnoses a few months ago. SO, no one told me I was depressed, since I was just showing symptoms of pure anger, thus being put on *****.

I'm currently on *****, which I will be taken off of within the next 4 months, and I've just been put on the highest dose of Paxil. And in a month, I'll be put on another set of medicine for both anxiety and depression. (Which I will end up having to take two of a day. But I should've wrote down the name of it.)

I don't have much experience in this just yet. (I just got up the courage to ask people on here to share experiences.) But I can say that ***** MAY be a great ****. It worked on day ONE of starting it, but...Nobody should ever take the crap. It does bad things when you need to go off it.

@Amura I think whenever you go off of it for even a day or two, that generally happens with medications relating to mental illnesses. I never got sick when I cut off medications for myself the first time but whenever I miss a day of seroquel xr (and I only missed two days of it ever, or maybe three), I get horribly sick. I had to get one of those sunday-saturday **** things to make sure I take them every day.

@Aeriths

I have been told by many people that ***** is possibly the worst and hardest to get off. I was only off of it completely for two weeks. (I got smaller and smaller doses for a bit.) And BAD things happened. I was shaking so much that I couldn't hold a pencil, I couldn't go to sleep for anything. The longest I was awake was about 3 days. I felt sick, I hardly ate, and I started hearing voices.

The only cool side-effect of it though was that I could hear EVERYTHING. o_o I could hear my cat purr in another room.

@Amura When you were off of it for two weeks, was it to slowly take you off of it? Or that you couldn't have it for two weeks?

I never remembered the side effects when I was taken off two wayyy back but the thing is, I don't think I had any. And whoa, that's pretty bad. The most I had worse with not taking seroqeul was that I was feeling nauseous but idk how I would have been if I was off for a couple of days (If I miss Trileptal, usually nothing happens but I usually remember to take that one more since I take it twice a day.)

Whoa, I have never heard of that side effect but I hope you're better now ;w;

Slowly taken off it, and at the same time they were starting me on Paxil. (And this was about 3 months ago, but I needed to see a psychiatrist for a better idea, since they specialize in it.) Now I'm on both, and not losing either for a while.

Well, ***** is just really really bad. I'm only on the second highest dose (1MG), and that's what happened. It can easily kill people.

Yes, all better for now. I kinda miss it though XD It was like a super power.
