@HydroDragon - I love LOTR! I was super disappointed with the Hobbit movie adaptations though, I didn't like them pulling a lot of the appendix and the silmarillium into it. Also the whole invented Tauriel thing. Have you thought about doing LOTR themed dragons? I kinda want to but not sure where to start, maybe with making the fellowship...

Personally, I liked the way they made the Hobbit movies, though I agree with you, the plot and how they pulled the appendix into it was rather disappointing. I never thought about LOTR themed dragons, that would be pretty interesting. The nine from the fellowship would be cool.

Yaaaassss.

Hehehe when I was 5, my dad took me to our local library and he picked out a children's version of The Hobbit for me. I was skeptical about it, but I loved it very much! Turns out the children's book I read was based on that cartoon from the 80s that was made for The Hobbit - which I ended up watching 3 years later, and loved it.
Then when I was 12, I read them all.
Always wanted the Silmarilion but never bought it. My excuse right now is that I'm looking for a nice leather bound version :U

Recently picked up a nice leather bound Hobbit-LOTR collection. hoping there's a matching Silmarillion somewhere! When I was a kid, I was infatuated by wiki stuff I read on Melkor and all the mythology stuff that Tolkien fleshed out for Middle Earth.
I also loved his the art for the maps. So pretty. I would doodle the map all over my sketchbook covers .3.

Sounds like you have a nice Hobbit-LOTR collection. :) I have a paperback version of the Hobbit ( :P ) and my dad has the LOTR collection that's probably 100 years old and is coming apart, so I can't really read them. D:

I haven't really heard/read much about the Silmarillion but I'd really like to have a copy of it. I'd like to read the three collections (Silmarillion, The Hobbit, LOTR) in order all together one day.

Tolkien's art for his maps and the Elvish language he created is amazing. I have a copy of the Tengwar alphabet that I'm going to use on my binders for school. :D

I had the regular paperback versions for a while - the ones i read back when I was 12. Awww maaan, I would kill for a really old collection of the books though!

There are other books that may also be worth reading. We had a couple of historical books, like The Book of Lost Tales. I didn't read those, but my dad did, and I remember him telling me some things - which made me more interested in the Silmarillion, cause a lot of what they would talk about would point towards that book.

I have a book somewhere - a dictionary translation book for Sindarin and Quenya, and I think the dwarfish language and orc languages. This is the cover: http://www.tolkienshop.com/contents/media/l_0395291305.bmp
It says it goes over 14 languages, but I remember it having a section that translated Sindarin and Quenya, which was really nice!

The book you have sounds really nice. Sindarin is a very beautiful language that Tolkien made. The writing is really pretty to look at as well.

I'm not sure where my dad got the old collection, but it's like a treasure to me. :D It had the map of middle earth (I'm not sure whether it fell out or it was just detached from the book) that I keep in my room for safekeeping. I actually haven't looked in the books for while, I'm afraid they'll disintegrate or something (curiosity might get the better of me though :D).

I've recently read The Hobbit (then watched the movies) and I'm about 2/3 into Fellowship of the Ring. I love it so much *o*

My favorite characters so far have been Bilbo and Elrond.

@HydroDragon I love Lord of the rings and The Hobbit (^_^)/ (I knew who was going to die in the end in The Hobbit for had read the book way before the movie, but still it broke my heart in pieces *again* when I saw the last hobbit movie...) My favorite characters are Thranduil, Elrond, Galadriel, Gandalf, The Background Elves, and Legolas.[s] (I love the Elves the most :D)[/s]

@Waterrain

I love Galadriel and Gandalf as well. ^.^ Gandalf is so humble and wise. :3 Thranduil from the Hobbit actually scared me, haha. :D I read that Orlando Bloom (the person who acted as Legolas) said during an interview that the elves steal the show. I have to admit the Elves are my favorite.

@tabeabd

That's great that you're reading the books ^.^ It's not too sad at the end of the Lord of the Rings.

Does anyone else like Aragorn? When I was a little kid he (and the Ringwraiths) absolutely freaked me out. :}D I liked him throughout the movie except at the very end when he had a beard.
