TOPIC | How did you get your dog?

I was curious to see how did you get your dog? Did someone suprise you? Did you get them yourself?

Here goes mine

So my dad said we will pick up my dog between the 11-14. So one day at school my teacher got a call saying I had to go to extended care. I went, and stayed until 5. ( I was very suspicious) And then, I got picked up. My dad came, explaining, "Sorry Im late-I had to go to *state name*"
I was suspecting this- we got home. I opened the door to find the house all dark. I thought I saw someone behind the counter. "mom?" My mom notices i saw her and starts making ghost noises. I laugh and step inside- bam the lights are on- and people jump out from behind a couch and a dog is there XD

We got my dog from the local no-kill rescue. We went there three or four times total.
We first went to just what small dogs they had (I wanted medium sized, my dad didn't). So we went, looked through the book, and decided to meet Forrest. Forrest chilled with us for a little while, then they mentioned his sister Jenny. And so we met the two of them, and stayed for almost an hour. We also wanted to meet Zuko, but he was with a foster. We left. The next day /I was volunteering/, Zuko was in, but being adopted. And so were Forrest and Jenny...

THEN: We went to inquire about any other small dogs they had. They only had one: Wall-E a terrier mix. (Mostly likely Bospin -Boston Terrier/Min pin-). We met with the little guy. He was a jumper, and the "bite dog" -he somehow magically bit the inside of a toddler's cheek-. He was the only one my half-sister met and niece too. It was a same day adaption, we went to meet him, and stayed for almost two hours with him there. And by the end of the day, we brought home my little Wall-E.
Two or so months and he's finally getting comfortable :)

We got our dog about a year and a half ago. We planned on getting a dog during the summer but we ended up getting a dog during the school year (towards the end though). Anyways, we were looking at a really young puppy the day before and we were in love with him. We called to reserve him but they didn't reserve puppies (we were calling Humane Society, and I'm pretty sure they did hold puppies because I've seen it before. Complete BS). So the next day we went over to Humane Society before they opened, to my surprise there were a bunch of people waiting as well for whatever reason. Unfortunately, some guy got to him before we did. So we were a bit sad ya'know. But later on in the day we were looking at some more dogs and we saw Mosa Ann! Which was a pretty brindle pitbull mix that was like 8-9 months old. Not much of a puppy but still she was cute. We renamed her Mocha. She actually turned two today! My grandparents live in Missouri, in a very very small town with only 800 people or so living there. There's a lot of strays and stuff, and my aunt found this one strange who was like kind of pit bull mix. She ended up hiding him in her room (which was above the garage that was separate from the house :P it's a big house) and keeping him hidden from my grandparents for a bit.

Eventually, she could keep him there anymore, so he came down to live with us! His name is Reggie, and he's the sweetest, most tolerant dog I've ever met. I can legit lay on this dog and he doesn't mind at all. People are scared of him cause he's got a pit bull face, but I think he's probably the sweetest thing I've ever met.

What do you imagine the effects of a conscious observer might be?

Bought her off Craigslist. o3o Accidental breeding happened, and later there were about 5 puppies with 3 for sale. Me and my entire family went off to the location, and the calmest puppy was a tricolor. We bought her and named her Daisy. c:

poor thing... needs to update his forum signature and hasn't yet. oh well!
When I was four years old, my mom took my brother and I to just go "look" at some puppies from an ad she saw in the paper. Well, you can probably imagine how that turned out xD We went home with two corgi mix mutts, and my brother decided to name them James and Lillie. James had to be put down about 5 years ago I think but Lillie is still with us. She recently turned 13 years old. Here's some pics of her from a recent walk ;v;

Got Jiro a year and almost a half from a reputable breeder in central Arkansas. What I'm never doing again is having a dog shipped to me...had I known that he'd be at airports for like 12 hours and unable to eat/drink/whizz/etc, I would have taken time off to take a road trip to get him.

While I didn't know, at the same time I regret doing that to him. He was 9 months and was just neutered when I got him. Had him neutered before getting him just so that it was done.

Dogs dogs dogs! I love dog topics *_*

I got my first pupper (Ollie) from a rescue centre as a puppy - known as Dogs Trust in the UK. All we know is that he is a whippet cross, but nobody has been certain of the other breed(s) he is mixed with! People had claimed him already, however they did not show up to pick him up. I called the shelter and they said he'd been left behind! They already named him Oliver. I liked the name, so I kept it. He's known as Ollie or Olive to most though~

I got my other dog (Tess) from the same place a few years later. Ollie was a lot bigger and I felt he could do with a friend. Tess is an ex-racing greyhound. I absolutely adore greyhounds. In my local Dogs Trust, we have a section where dogs that are unavailable for rehoming at the time are situated - that's where Tess was. A worker showed me around a lot of the dogs, asked me my preference and I told her, so she took me round to this kennel where she was. She was unavailable for rehoming due to her extremely timid nature, she was rather afraid of humans and was quite malnourished. It was honestly pretty depressing to look at, but she was and still is a beautiful dog. She actually let me pet her through the bars, which I was told she had yet to let anybody do - I had to take her. I had to go for a few walks around, bringing Ollie too so they could meet. She also had to deal with a 'cat test', since I have a pet cat. I brought her home and for a good few months she stayed in her shell. Slept only on a certain rug and didn't move the entire day (unless being fed, let out to do her business, or taken on a walk.) It took a while, but by Christmas she was tearing down the tree, howling and talking, and actually began to show a lot of life in her. She's now extremely lazy, a lover of cuddles and very spoilt!

about 8 or so years ago, some friends of my parents told us that they'd found a stray dog wandering around and they knew my parents had kids and were interested in getting a dog, so we all hopped in the car and drove over (at the time i was very scared of dogs so i was pretty apprehensive), and we ended up getting the puppy (who turned out to be a harmless dork, except for one time when he killed a squirrel but otherwise he can't even hurt flies) and he's been with us ever since! <3
