I love a good Creepypasta story. I've always been into horror and the paranormal. I found this out when was really young, about 6, when my mother bought me a Goosebumps DVD. I was reluctant to watch it at first. But man am I glad that I did. I got hooked. All I wanted for 3 years straight was Goosebumps stuff. R.L. Stine was my childhood idol. As I got older I got more into the real horror and hardcore stuff. This is not to be confused with gore or slasher films. I HATE those. I can't stand unnecessary or over the top killing in horror films. It kills the movie for me. I love that crazy dead guy. It's like Goosebumps for adults especially. Both of them are extremely nostalgic for me. I love going back and watching Goosebump movies and watching Tales from the Crypt episodes. If you too have a love for the art of the scare please share it with me here. I'm all ears.......literally. O_O

Hello, nice to meet you! I'm also a huge horror fan, both movies and books. Like you, I dislike slasher/serial killer/torture films.

One of the very first horror novels I've read was Stephen King's Cujo, when I was in second grade. I'm pretty sure that's how I got hooked on King's crack for life.

What are your favorite horror movies and/or books?

P.S. If you know who H.P. Lovecraft is, I'm making a fan dragon project based on him/his work

I really like horror movies, especially when I watch them with friends. It scares the heck out of me, sure, but there's some added element that fasincates me so much that I keep watching them. I don't know. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has experienced something similar lmao

I....love...King. My favorite movie till this day is Super 8! That's alien movie had it all. I love it.

I'm actually not familiar with Lovecraft though ;^;

@jaerlupin

The only reason I watch horror movies with other people is to laugh at them. Hahah. I'm so desensitized it takes a lot to scare me. But normal people who watch a normal amount of horror movies are easily scared and I find it hilarious.

I think the element your talking about may be suspense. Or my favorite. The anticipated jump scare.

Have you ever read Stephen King's novella The Mist? Or seen the movie (blech) they made out of it? Or read King's short story Crouch End? Or his book From A Buick 8? Orrrrrr seen the older movie In The Mouth of Madness? Those are all based on Lovecraft's work. Most of his work is in the public domain now, and you can easily find it on the internet for free.

I've seen Super 8! That wasn't bad at all. I also enjoy Sci-Fi and Fantasy.

yeyeyeyeye horror is great
My older brother had amassed basically the entirety of the goosebumps series, & I guess I wanted to be "cool" like him so I started reading them even though I was terrified of basically everything at that time.
I'm not so much a fan of King ("im not like ur average horrer buf") because I've found that he can be a bit too predictable (with some wonderful exceptions like The Mist) and jump-scare dependent films, I'm more into the kind of eerie/macabre horror. The unsettling, understated stuff is what really scares me. Like Lake Mungo really messed me up.

@ysabol

heck yeah, Lovecraft! I started a mini-club in high school for his stuff! (there were 2 of us & we got too lazy to continue so it only lasted like a month)

The movie The Fog was John Carpenter, not Stephen King. It's ok not to enjoy or like King, a lot of people don't.

Have you ever seen any Japanese Horror. They are allll about suspence/psychological story.

Yes to the mist (Read it first) <3 no to the second one. But yes to Mouth of Madness. (:

My favorite horror mediums are above. I grew up with those mostly. I've read and watched R.L. Stines works and read and watched the Tales from the Crypt series. They started out as comics. Which I would frequently steal from my Grandfathers house. Shhhh. Then they started making movies.

I've seen a TON of Tales From The Crypt. I've also seen the movies, except for the one that stars the actress that played baby from Dirty Dancing (the voodoo zombie one.) I noticed it's on Netflix right now though, I keep meaning to watch it. I REALLY liked Demon Night. It probably helped that it had Billy Zane in it.

I never read the Goosebumps books :/
