Alright so if you haven't heard, Chinese film company Alibaba Pictures is producing a Warriors movie, specifically into the Wild. Now, as announced on warriorcats.com , is David Heyman will be the producer. David Heyman has produced almost all the Harry Potter films, and has also worked on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them. As this article stated, it will be a live action film.

Anyone else now hyped? At first I was a bit shocked, because I assumed the movie woul dbe a complete flop and ruin one of my favorite book series. Now as I have learned more about it, I'm quite excited.

EDIT- I don't know if you would want to add this, but this guy talks about and points out all the reasons why we shouldn't be worried that they'll ruin the movie (since I understand some people might still be skeptical)

i need something as a placeholder here, so hello
Daaaaang. This is awesome news for two reasons: it's only adapting the first book, so it won't be so badly compressed; and the producer has some serious credit.

This is news! I haven't read the books in years, but I suppose I'll have to go back and read them again to jog my memory because of this.

Anyways, I'm really interested to see the direction that the plot takes. I know that the plot is going to be condensed a lot, and it is most likely that there will be some character cuts, so most hard-core fans won't really get the movie they wanted, but it's exciting nonetheless to see a movie that is finally being made.

But then there's the issue of all the violence in the series. Either much of it is going to be removed or it's going to get a pg-13 rating. I think the violence would probably hurt the movie in the box office, but I can't help but feel that a lot of people would feel cheated if all the fighting was removed - it's just not really in the spirit of the books.

Oh man seriously??? I just started re-reading the series from the beginning because it was my absolute favorite as a child. Looking back I can't believe some of the scenes were ok for children. These cats get pretty violent sometimes.

Ahh so excited.

THIS IS REALLY GOOD NEWS!

I was super worried because I had never heard of the company, but with someone with that much name recognition for book to movie films, this is great.

poor thing... needs to update his forum signature and hasn't yet. oh well!
I'm pretty stoked actually. For me it's got nothing to lose so, like, it's way cool that the people working on it are not terrible!

EDIT: I just read the article. It's so weird to hear Warriors being talked about in a professional context, lol.

Like everyone else I'm a bit concerned with the fighting. But mostly I'm concerned witht he rating, and I think that's probably what's going to kill this damn movie...

Here's what I mean. Back in the day, you can have a hand chopped off, blood and gore, and a decapitation, and the movie could still be rated PG (Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back). Now you have a movie rated PG because it could be scary for little children (Frozen). And the littlest drop of blood could send you into PG-13 land.

This is not a book targeted for little tiny kids, nor is it a book targeted for adults either. Yet in some way, anybody of any age can read it- I see adults reading it for themselves, I see fathers reading it to their 6 year olds. Violence in a book is far different than violence in tv, after all. And I do think that some adults underestimate children in what they can see- Children know that blood and gore exist. But it's not really the same in movies... you cannot translate Warrior Cats into a family friendly movie without having to cut some parts out.

There seems to be a stigma against G-rated movies, because older people will think of them as "Kids movies". But then we don't an R-rated cat movie because Warrior Cats is not Felidae. It's not meant only for adults. So can we trust PG-13 as the middle ground? I can't because the producers know that it won't attract kids, and teenagers and adults will probably pass it off as a kid's movie. So I'm guessing this movie is going to be rated PG, which is now pretty much the new G. Meaning, I'm assuming there is not going to be a lot violence in this movie.

I really hope they take after the Guardians of Ga'hoole movie which found a way to include fighting and still keep a PG level. Honestly though, Legend of the Guardians was lucky because it included some dark elements that I honestly didn't think they'd let in children's movies anymore, so I don't know. At least someone we know who is good is working on it.

@WereLynx
Yeah all that bugs me too. I enjoy the dark elements and stuff; it's nice to find something that doesn't sugarcoat everything. Hopefully they won't mess it up.

But I mean, look what they managed with Harry Potter! It had fighting and some blood, but not over the top, and those books were for all ages too. I bet that's why they got this producer to work on it!

That being said I'm even more hyped because I love the Harry potter movies!
