Do NOT ping me!

The pop noise mmm, the suds, and bubbles, and carbon... All of it... Running down my throat. It relaxes me, all the stress fades away and I'm in a world filled with gracious sugar.

I'm not just a soda drinker, I'm ADDICTED to soda! And I need to quit. I can so easily drink a 2L in a day, but given I had more than that, I could have even more than just 2 liters. I'm odd that I want to write a novel about cocacola... But I'm going to, and I need the perfect white and red dragon. I shall find the perfect cola dragon! <3

I've tried a few things to help me stop drinking it daily, but I'm just too stubborn. :|
I tried switching to chocolate milk, that lasted 2 days.
I tried tangerines, that lasted 4 days.
I tried cold turkey, and I lasted 4 days... I might try it again.

I felt the need to share, sorry. ;-;

Anyone else addicted to a food or drink item? I'm curious to know. Maybe we can support each other, or something. T_T

I'm not addicted to soda but more when it comes to ice cream or anything red velvet flavored is what I'm addicted to.

Red velvet candy, cake, ice cream, you name it and I'll eat/drink it. I want to make red velvet pancakes and milkshake some time. ^^

I used to be addicted to soda as well but after it caused me to gain a lot of weight and I started getting headaches I had to switch to drinking water and occasionally I will drink tea. If you still want sugary stuff to drink I would suggest a green tea or any kind of herbal tea so it would be healthy and sweet like soda. As for food that I am addicted to...sausage hot dogs on a poppy seed bun or Hawaiian pizza yum.

I'm a Pepsi drinker, and while not quite as heavy (I can barely make it through a 1.5 liter in a day, though it's still a lot), I find limiting yourself is easier than dropping cold turkey. Caffeine headaches are a menace. XP

One thing I do is have soda ONLY with food. Now this works if you don't have a massive appetite, but I find it tastes better while eating than while just sittin' and drinking it. Idk why! Maybe a mix of salts and sweets.

Get smaller amounts if you can! If you're used to buying 2L bottles, get the smaller ones or get the cans! GIve yourself a SET LIMIT a day, and if you worry you'll reach it too fast, stretch your drinking times out throughout the day and try to drink more water inbetween! One bottle of water for every can. Once that becomes habit, it'll be easier to go down from there.

A last resort/more extreme way to stop is to read up on all the scary, anxiety-inducing health problems soda consumption can solve. XP It isnt fun, but it can definitely make you think twice before taking another sip.

I'm not down to a super low amount yet, but I did manage to go without soda for almost 2 weeks. Then my cat died (like 2014, not anytime recent) and I had a relapse cause I just stopped caring. :( I'll probably try another severe cut down soon. But I wish you luck!!

Sorry this was so long!! ;A; I RAMBLE A LOT

the way I stopped drinking soda is that I stopped buying it lol I'll bring a drink with me whenever I go out and tell myself "why would I buy a drink if I already have a drink." I've also gotten more health-conscious and I feel guilty when I over-indulge

the only time I end up drinking it is if I go back home for break, but since I stopped for a long time, I ca't even drink half a can anymore. I used to love the carbonation, but I'm sick of it now

maybe you can replace soda with other like-carbonated beverages.. like sparkling water? I'm not sure if it's equally as bad for you like soda, but it's a good stepping stone to stopping lol

@PurpleFangs

So you eat/drink it everyday? Also red velvet pancakes sounds AMAZING!

@Ceravine

Honestly that's what I'm afraid of... The unavoidable headaches that will come with it. My husbands mom is also addicted, and she became so addicted that her body NEEDS it daily now.. Or she gets severe headaches.. Me I'm not to that point, and honestly I tried tea for a while, but I NEED my creamers with it, or I won't drink it. Also you made me want a corn dog. ;-;

@SkyTheArtist

I've become so addicted that I ordered pizza just for the soda to come with it. -.- And I could try that, limiting myself..

Ugh I've had cereal with soda one morning, I like... Couldn't wait to have it later. Also I had the idea of buying the company's mini soda cans, they're even smaller than the regular. I'm sure you've seen them!

Omgosh I would've done the same. Honestly I fell so heart broken when my 11 year old cat died, I cried non-stop for 3 days straight, after that I fell very ill. I had such a connection with that cat. I wish you luck as well, and thank you for the advice!!

Wish that'd work for me, but I always bring water with me when I go out... And I still end up buying soda. -.- Though I am a bit afraid for my health, I've had swollen hands and feet for like a week and it won't go down. But today it did after going out for a walk.

YOU are lucky, I wish I was sick of it. ;-;

Sparkling water... I would but I can't stand the taste of it. e___e I've had many flavors of it too, and ugh I just can't.

I used to be majorly addicted to soda. From the time I was little to my teen years it was basically all I drank and it got to the point where it was just really negatively affecting my health, I felt like crap all the time because I was drinking so much of it and I finally just got fed up with and I quit cold turkey. I stopped buying soda and started drinking water regularly for the first time ever and it was so much easier than I thought it would be. I started feeling better, I lost 80 pounds literally from doing nothing but cutting soda out, and that all inspired me to start making more healthier decisions elsewhere in my life.

It's been like 7 years since then and I haven't really drank any soda since. Tried to drink a Coke at a party because it was all they had and it tasted completely disgusting to me and every time I've tried soda after that it's been the same. I feel like my tastebuds are totally different, soda doesn't even taste good to me anymore and that makes it much easier to not pick it back up.

I don't drink soda with caffeine. and can't stand dark colored sodas in general. I also can't have Mountain Dew because it makes me gassy and feel nauseous. I used to love it before that started happening.
we started drinking a lot of water because we had a water cooler.
and that's stuck, even after I've moved. I just have bottles to refill. need to look into the cost of the pitcher with the filter tho. then I wouldn't have to take bottles to the store and back home. I still have soda sometimes, I bought a bottle of 7UP last week... haven't opened it yet. and I like to buy Jarritos sometimes. but not too often.

my older brother is addicted to soda tho. and it's obviously had negative effects. x__x I'm so glad me and mom stopped drinking it regularly.

I dropped soda during the week for the most part (when I go to the gym and eat one solid food substance meal a day (cereal and/or coffee for breakfast and cereal or a protein shake for dinner) even though I'll sneak one in now and then, I get by on those carbonated flavor drinks that don't have sugar and stuff or sparkling water because I crave the fizz. I did it cold turkey initially and owww those headaches...but I feel better only having it now and then, especially my favorite Vanilla Coke, it tastes so much better not drinking it so much.
