So fidget spinner have been quite popular lately. They were originally meant for ADHD/fidgeting people, but now a lot of people love them. I wanna see what people on FR think, Do you approve or disapprove of fidget spinners?

I have one that my psychiatrist gave me, but it's not the best fidgety toy I've played with. It's boring after a while and it broke super easily. I had it in my purse and already the ball-bearings are gummed up and the backside broke off.

I prefer the Fidget Cube to these fidget spinners, but I've heard that the company that makes the cubes (Antsy Labs) has been unresponsive to orders and emails, so I can see why these would be more popular right now.

Hey, friendly reminder to drink water, stretch, and take a short break if you can. Stay healthy! Also, don't forget about any chores or tasks you might be putting off.

Nay. There have been multiple studies conducted that have concluded that fidget spinners worsen the symptoms that cause distractions.
The purpose of the spinner is claimed to be to help those with ADHD/ Autism by spinning it and "fidgeting". But a spinner is more visual. You are inclined to watch it spin for a long duration, not roll it back and forth in your hands. If anything, that is a distraction in itself since you cannot constantly keep it moving on your own.

I think a fidget cube is better, as it's not something you need to look at, and it has multiple options to keep people busy and it can stay in a pocket.

Nay. Nay nay nay nay nay nay nay. I know they are made for people with focus issues, and it might work for some people, but I have yet to meet anyone who is not distracted by them. It even distracts me, and half the time, that's the only thing anyone's talking about. As someone who has very strong hearing, it's incredibly distracting, plus, some are shiny. Who isn't distracted by moving shiny things?

I've seen both figet cubes and figet spinners at my school. Figet cubes are ok (the thumb-roll side is actually so soothing) but I always thought figet spinners are dumb. I thought dabbing was dumb too when I found out about it.

I don't think much of them. but considering that you'd prolly want to look at them... they seem like they wouldn't be much use to people with ADD or ADHD.
I think all the memes are really stupid, though.

Ehh.. Nay, for me. I can't speak for others, but it feels quite akward to spin, and Isn't something I can really do subconsciously. For me, there's better stim toys out there.

Great idea for people who need them. Superb. Not great nor fun for those that have to go to dinner with little kids that bang them around the table for half an hour.

Whether it works or not, it normalizes fidget and stim toys, meaning that neurodivergents don't get singled out and bullied. I used to get bullied as a kid for just having to use stress balls, so it's good to me to see that other kids with ADD won't have to get hurt; still, I really hate kids who pass them around class and generally disrupt class and public places with them : /
