Whats your thoughts on them, and do you have one ?

Personally I believe that they should only be for people with real anxiety and ADHD/ADD, such as myself. I don't like that people consider them to be a toy when they are supposed to help people.

Anyways, I bought one a few days ago, and I wouldn't say that it "helps" me but rather I just get distracted by the pretty colors that mine has, which is not good when you have ADD. I think I might have gotten addicted to it, considering I have been trying to do trick shots with it, and ultimately failing XD.

So please tell me what you think.

I really cannot vouch for the practical or beneficial side of fidget spinners. As someone who has never bought one and have made contact with one at least, I just don't see it for anything else than a toy fad that's so popular, there are knockoffs of knockoffs. Maybe it's just a hipster me just hating on it for contrarian's sake.

I don't own one, but I've played with my friends' spinners. They're all fun and games, but I think they're a distraction to the people around you. I was taking a test and somebody was playin' with one, I'm just gonna say they're noisy.

I can't really say if they're effective or not, though.

i have one i bought for 10$ at a mall in our city and its?? ok i guess. not much of a distraction, like most schools coin the term. and honestly for me, it's kinda entertaining? but i've never brought one to school so i'm not sure if i can tell :p

I tried one when I saw them at Wal-Mart. as someone with ADD and ASD... I can say that they're not of any use to me. they're noisy, and I had a hard time spinning it. holding it with 2 fingers and spinning wasn't working too well. kinda too big for my hand. I wouldn't buy one. but if it didn't bother me and I wanted one, I wouldn't really use it except at home. the noise they make is very irritating to me, and I wouldn't want to bother anyone else with the sound.

I like them, as they help with my anxiety. I'll have one in one hand while I'm doing homework, or while I'm stressing out about something, for example.

As far as other people using them, as long as they're not very loud, it's fine with me.

But I honestly see them as something to help people with special cases, instead of just as a toy for the general public, witch is kinda what they've turned into.

I get made fun of for having one, when I litterally use it only for helping anxiety, and nothing else. I don't use it in public, either, so I don't see why it's something to make fun of.

[/quote] While I get what you're saying, if it genuinely helps somebody who doesn't have anxiety/ADD/etc and they're not treating it as a shiny new toy, I don't see the problem. People treating it as a toy is a problem, yes (there's a whole book you could write on how people made fun of neurodivergent people for using stuff like this until it got 'rebranded' and suddenly it's the COOLEST THING), but neurotypical people using stuff like this and treating it with respect normalizes it, so it's not seen as a weird thing to do or a thing you get picked on for doing. key thing here is respect, which yeah. most kids don't do that, which is why i totally get where you're coming from.

my best friend's mom was given one as a gift and I couldn't stop playing w/ it. I was truly hooked. I have ADD but I'm not totally sure whether or not I would use one for coping w that in the long run....I tried a fidget cube at a friend's house the next day and that was more my style I think. but like if they help ppl, they help ppl. who tf cares??? why would you deny they can help people when a bunch of ppl are saying "yeah these help me"

the sudden widespread interest in them is SOOO funny tho oh my god. like I swear 2 god, a fidget spinner kiosk popped up at my local mall within like 3 days of fidget spinners becoming a meme. then awhile after that I went to my favorite gas station in nearby Centralia, WA to pick up my favorite flavors of faygo and my favorite brand of malt liquor, and I noticed a display of fidget spinners at the counter and I said "wow this is really catching on fast." the clerk was like "yeah mine was like $40. it's gold." and she gestured to a display, kept BEHIND the counter, of golden bedazzled fidget spinners. I was in awe. then she answered the phone while helping me and said "yeah, ketchup and mustard. thanks." on the phone as she handed me my receipt.

then a few days ago I was on the bus driving past a new store downtown that sells bongs and novelty items and they had a huge LED sign in the window that says "FIDGET SPINNERS"....."FIDGET SPINNERS" with swirling animated designs around it followed by "FUNKO POPS SOLD HERE!" and I noticed there was a slightly torn paper sign taped to a wall near the entrance that said "Fidget Spinners --->" pointing to the shop's door. I laughed alone

i find the trend funny. I have nothing against spinners, but they annoy me, especially the sound when they spin. It would be terrible if a whole class was using them...
(at least some memes are amusing)
