TOPIC | Houseplant ID help?
Alright, so I've had this charming fellow that I've named "Spotted Scott" for over a year now, and despite my efforts, still have absolutely no idea what he is. He seems to be doing very well. He's almost doubled in size since I bought him, and though I've seen no signs of any flower buds, several new shoots have come up. He's very shrubby, has fuzzy stems and smooth (though almost sandpapery) leaves, prefers to not be in direct sunlight, and has a very dramatic habit of drooping horribly whenever i go just a bit too long without giving him a drink (but perks back up within an hour of watering). The undersides of the leaves are lighter green than the topside, but I wouldn't say they're pale, if that helps. The little info tag that came in the plastic pot when I bought him didn't give me a name for the plant, just basic care instructions. I'm thinking it might be some kind of zebra plant, but the leaves are very small (thumb sized), the vein patterns are more webbed than striped, and again, the stems are fuzzy... I don't know. Maybe it's some kind of mutant. Does anyone have any idea?

That's a Fittonia albivenis! I'm unsure of the variety. Possibly a 'mini white'? They make great plants alright. I love my pink one.

The other commenters are right! That's a Fittonia plant, aka "nerve plant". They're native to South America and are a really popular plant for tropical reptile vivariums, because they prefer high heat and humidity. As you've seen, they have a tendency to "faint" when they're cold or underwatered. So dramatic!

Spotted Scott looks very happy and healthy, you've done a great job with him. Is he called that because of the polka-dot pot, or...?

@chillwind Ah, so it's a good thing I have it in the warmest room in the house! I did in fact name him with the pot in mind... it was the only one that I had that would fit him at the time, he was so little when I got him! And he just seemed like a Scott to me, I don't know why...

@Archgon They come in pink too?!?

Thanks guys!!!!!!
