Prediction; Palpatine's not actually back. There'll be a wreckage exploring scene and you'll hear that cackle as a suitably ominous way of emphasizing "the dark side is strong here".


Also a theory I first saw on Twitter; Rey is not a Skywalker in the sense of the family name. The Jedi are gone, but a new order is rising in its place. Rey is the first of this new order, and as Luke is essentially their "Jesus" figure, the order will be known as The Skywalkers.

Hence the title.

I mean, the Jedi can come back as force ghosts. It'd be silly to think that even if Palpatine isn't alive, that he couldn't be a force ghost. Which would arguably make him even more dangerous since he can't be killed.
