Today, I tried a French horn for the first time ever! I had a comfortable grip on it. My instructor had me blow (or buzz?? should I say buzz) into the mouthpiece by itself. Then, he had me attach the mouthpiece and buzz. When I first buzzed I knew that I definitely wanted to play it!! Then I started messing around with all the valves. Even the instructor told me I picked it up fast and that it was a rather tricky instrument to learn.
Any brass players (brassists? brassers? eh) lurking in the forums?? I'd love to start a discussion! I love brass so much [emoji=pearlcatcher love]

reneeflower that's ok!! flute is a very beautiful instrument. so is saxophone! i love saxophones but they are just much too uncomfortable for me. but that may not be the case for you!!

SweetPotatoes ohhh the trumpet! my friend also wanted to pick up an instrument a bit before me so she got to try out the trumpet and she decided she loved it and that it was destiny.

I play the oboe (not for long, though. I'm quitting band) and I honestly wish I had chosen the flute or the sax. My dad played the trumpet though, which is why I have a trumpet in my closet.

xXIceWolfXx Oboe is quite difficult, I've heard! I like the sound of oboes. Sad to hear you're quitting band. Flute and sax are two very nice instruments too, and if you ever decide to take one of those up, I wish you the best of luck!

I play the cello, and only the cello, but I love a good brass quintet/choir/etc.
The horn is a very difficult instrument to learn, but so beautiful!

Wildervast Cellos are very beautiful instruments. I love them! I agree, listening to brass is so relaxing. I've gotten from a couple sources (now including you lmao) that the horn is difficult to play. Mainly because of the teeny tiny mouthpiece. And some people can't buzz their lips as you do to play most brass. But yes, cellos are quite the pretty instrument and so is the horn!! <3

I'm a flute player, but I also screw around on a trombone! At this point, the ledger notes are pure hell on my cheeks and I've devolved from actually doing some difficult pieces, Con Brio March, in favor of warming up and then playing meme music.
