TOPIC | What to watch Netflix?
1 2
I recently bought Netflix and there’s a lot of stuff in there. Most descriptions I’ve read all kinda seem the same for some reason.

Anyway, I’ve started watching Stranger Things, taking a break at season 3 because its getting a bit nyeh

I’m picking up The 100 because I havent watched the earlier seasons in a long time.
Watched a few eps of Love, Death & Robots
Watched one Netflix movie I Am Mother
I have a bunch of things to watch on my list but yknow certain moods
Gonna bury 13 Reasons Why for a time when I’m not depressed

So Recommendos
Also better descriptions than Netflix’s required

@MyHartWillDrogon I'd say that Stranger Things 3 redeems itself in season 3 over whatever that was in season 2. :) It's worth the watch I think.

For other series, The Umbrella Academy is very well produced, it only has one season though currently. Lost in Space is also a great rendition of a classic (again, only 1 season right now).

Honestly they're the two that have 'clicked' with me and I've not found anything else on there yet.
If you ever have access to Amazon Prime though, I'd also recommend The Boys (there's language in that trailer btw, and a fair bit of voilence), and Carnival Row.

Also I love your username. :'D It made me smile.

Yeah, I watched Lost in Space. Wasnt too thrilled with it tbh. Reminded me of Terminator 2

I just need a break from Stranger Things, I watched the first two seasons in one day so a break is needed.

Idk what Umbrella Academy is about, just that Gerard Way made it.

That really means very little to me honestly, but here's the trailer for season 1. It gives you the full plot premise for the season though, so it's up to you if you really watch it or not.

Grimm (6 seasons, finished, American): It's about the stories of the Brothers Grimm, except the stories are real. You follow the life of Nick Burkhardt who finds out he's a Grimm, and tries to find his place in this new world of monsters, creatures and beings that are human but also not. Fantasy, bit of crime, comedy, drama, (a bit of horror, maybe?). Not a series to be taken too serious, but fun. 7/10.

Orphan Black (5 seasons, finished, Canadian): A woman finds out she's a clone. Many clone-shenanigans ensue while taking on whoever created her. Sci-fi, action, drama, 7/10.

B: The Beginning (1 season, ongoing(?), Japanese): The police are hunting a serial killer, but soon find out the killer is not human, and might even not be the bad guy. Action, crime, fantasy, mystery. 8/10.

The Umbrella Academy (1 season, ongoing, American): After their (adoptive(?)) father dies, a group of estranged siblings - who also happen to have superpowers - have to fight against the coming apocalypse. Comedy, adventure, action, and just a lot of 'omg Luther stop'. 8/10 (+1 extra point for Ellen Page, I love her).

The Rain (2 seasons, ongoing, Danish): After the rain turns toxic, a brother and sister have to navigate a new apocalyptic world with a group of strangers they don't trust. Sci-fi, action, thriller. Season 1 gets an 8/10, haven't watched season 2 yet.

Sherlock (4 seasons (more like 12 full movies), finished, British): A detective and his boyfriend solve crime. Crime, mystery, drama, romance - 9/10

Kingdom (1 season, ongoing, Korean): A Korean series about a crown prince that tries to not only save himself, but the whole kingdom after discovering a mysterious plague. Drama, action, politics, thriller, 8/10. (South Korean filmmaking is amazing because they are masters in the thriller/horror genre, and add comedy in the best places)

Green Frontier (1 season, unknown, Colombian): After the murder of four young women, a female detective goes to solve the case. Along the way, she discovers she has a stronger connection to the people and environment around her than she initially believed. Crime, thriller, fantasy, mystery - solid 9/10. Might be my favorite series of the past few years.

Comedy is not my thing. I hate Modern Family, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother - I just don't find it funny. At all. BUT...
The Good Place (3 seasons, ongoing, American) is amazing. After her death, a woman arrives in the Good Place, where she soon figures out a mistake was made - she should be in the Bad Place. She tries to become good, but it never goes as planned. Comedy, romance, (philosophy - like a lot, and I loved it) and more comedy. I laughed my butt off. 8/10.

In general, I think the British are good at the crime-comedy genre, Korea and Japan are masters in thriller/horror, America is all 'go big or go home', and Scandanavian series are often bleak and dark but in a good way.
I have a lot more series (and movies) I can recommend, but I think this is enough for now, lol. Let me know if you watch them, would love to hear your opinion on them!

Do you like anime and/or western cartoons?
Netflix has some very good offerings in those categories.

@Maevepanda I’m not OP but Grimm FTW! I’m a few episodes from finishing the series, and it’s great. Frustrating sometimes, but a lot of fun.

I loved and hated the series, heh. I kinda lost interest with the whole Diana storyline, and it felt kinda all over the place in the last few seasons, but the mythology and mystery were interesting enough to keep me watching. I won't spoil anything about the ending, but I'd love to know your feelings about it once you've seen it.
